Losing 3G

My phone keeps dropping 3G signal every 3-5 minutes. 3G seems to be there until I need it the as soon as I hit the browser or something that uses 3G it disappears. I'm in a strong 3G area and my widespread DroidXcon never loses it sitting right beside me. I'm running EB01 baseband and ED01 build. I have tried rooting back to stock but it still did it. Wifi works fine.

On wifi now couldn't even get this to post on 3G.

Any ideas?

There are several threads about this problem. Need to have Verizon do an ESN swap. That is a logical process where they take your number off your phone and then put it back on. You can do it yourself if you have access to your account online and a spare/old phone.

Having Verizon do an ESN swap will clear that up, just like BigSwoe said. You could also try to flash new radio or just try a *228 1 and 2. And if you've already done that, sorry for not helping.

I took it to Verizon and the guy looked at me like I was crazy when I asked him to do an ESN swap. He said he doesn't have the ability to do that. So I figured I would come home and do it with my online account as you stated, then he said we'll just send you another phone for free. I have no doubt the information you gave me is correct but I'm getting the new phone with the warranty that will take me to the end of my contract. This will be my third Fascinate.

OTA your phone up to ED04 may solve your problems, at least on my phone.

call vzw ask them to talk to Tier 2 tech support
then ask them to remove data services and phone from network
then put it back on. Worked for me!

If you have a spare phone, you can do it yourself on line. Activate the spare phone on that line of yours...*228 it..., wait 5 minutes and swap back to this phone *228 it.

This is what I did, worked. That will force their system to re-initialize the ESN.

I'm having this problem too only I think I caused it. I was curiously browsing through the hidden dial code menus in the TSM parts settings, I don't remember which one, I clicked on one, it opened up some settings, the phone froze, rebooted and then it wouldn't get a data connection for a day or so. Now 3G disconnects every couple of minutes.
I'm using Community rom 1.3 with ED01 radio
