I have used 2 different car chargers n whether I'm downloading files or using GPS I end up with less battery life then what I started with, not even status quo. How could that be?

How many amps are they putting out?

You need one that does at least one amp.

I have the tunelink which outputs 2 amps and it charges my phone pretty fast even with the GPS on.

Ah, maybe that's the problem, one of the chargers is a cheapy from mono price while the other is a Verizon branded charger. Where could I get a good charger?

Check Amazon...they should have a few that will put out enough juice

No cheap or older brand names chargers have charged any newer smart phones very well. Need one that pumps out enough juice for these power hogs.. Everyone always wants to use my charger when were out of town because their old chargers take a day to give there smart phones full charge.

I bought the Motorola one off Amazon to have for an extra and it was only like 7 bucks.

This happened with the bionic too. It has to do with the phone using more power than the charger can produce. Anandtech had an article about it.

The motor chargers are rated to output 850mA. This will still not keep up with the phone (My Bionic anyway) when running navigation. I purchased a lighter to usb adapter rated at 2000mA and use it with a sync cable and my car dock. This combo will take the phone from dead to full charge in under 4 hours while running navigation. The phone handles the charging process to keep everything safe.

on long trips, using navigation, I always plug my phone chargers into a 110v outlet. I have an inverter, obviously. :)

I can run nav ALL DAY LONG and the battery on the Bionic stays fully charged, and that's with the screen ON the whole time.

This can be tricky. You need to know what the output of the charger is some non OEM's do not put out the correct power. My personal choice is to get OEM from this website. I have had no issues using my car charger with my Razr or my D2G

Can you guys recommend a good wall charger that'll put out 2000 mA cuz I'm having the same problem as the OP but with my wall charger.

The factory wall chargers are still only rated at 850mA. There are lots of factors that will affect the battery drain so it may work fine for you. I live in an area where data coverage is not so great so it probably uses more juice to keep the data connection.

not a recommendation, just a search result.
