losing place in article list.

Within the past two weeks, when I finish reading articles in android central, and return to the main listing, it automatically returns to the top of the list. The most recent articles are at the top of the list. The list used to maintain my placement in the list, as I finished reading one article, so that the next most recent article was available. Instead, when I close one article, I am moved to the very top of the list again, and have to scroll down, past the article I just finished reading, to get to the next most recent article.

Found the answer, inadvertently, when a training video I needed to watch for my work, advised me to check the setting in Developer Options, Apps, "Don't keep activities". Otherwise the video would not play correctly. Switched the setting off, and I could see the video. Then noticed the lack of place holding behavior had resolved. Kinda makes sense.
Just lucky coincidence. I had not found an answer when looking directly for the answer. Still do not know when that setting got switched.
