Loss of Network Connection

Hello all! I am a completely newbie to Android (converted from BB) and I absolutley love my DX. The learning curve wasn't bad at all and there is very little that this phone will not do.

However, I do have a question and it does come from a small issue that I am having. I have only had this phone about 10 days and most of the issue began this weekend. My phone, at random intervals, will loose network connection. The notification bar will show 4 to 5 bars of service but the 3G/1X notifier will completely disappear and the phone has no network access until they reappear. I notice it more often than not, immediately after removing it from the holster on my belt but I have seen it do it with it in my hand while I am using it as well. Any ideas?

I have deleted a couple of apps/widgets that I thought might be causing problems and it has gotten a little better. However, still have the same issue just not as frequently. I do stay on Extended Network 90% of the time but I do *228 everytime I am on a Verizon tower. I also spent an extended amount of time in Verizon network territory yesterday and had the same issues.

More of an annoyance at this point than anything but it is really getting old.

Thanks in Advance!!!

Does your internet still work when there are bars only? Your connection could just be idle so nothing is displayed in the status bar. When you open the web the 3G (1x if signal is poor) should pop back up.
If you are not getting a connection, web doesn't work, etc. you should talk with verizon.
Could be something wrong with your area, or phone may need a factory reset.

Edit: reread your post and realized you explained what I said already.
Perhaps it has something to do with the extended network, I don't know. Sorry

I have been told (while im not sure if its true) that there is never a need to *228 and that it can actually call more problems than it fixes
