Android Central Question

I connected my note 10 plus to my mac desktop via Samsung Dex app. opened the Gallery app on the phone via Dex and selected the files I wanted to transfer to Mac and dragged all the files (like 200 of them) to Mac's finder window. few of the pictures moved fine but for the rest it says "The file “20191203_140409.jpg” could not be opened because it is empty." and because I moved the files they are not on the phone either. So, did I lost all the vacation photos?!

We constantly harp on about using copy/paste instead of the move files option as this invariably fails as you have found out. All of those files marked as empty are corrupt. Hopefully you have a backup on Google.

Probably not corrupt. The files are moved into RAM, as many as will fit, then wiped, then pasted to the destination. Kind of the reverse of what should be happening. (Then, after the paste, the directory entry is marked deleted.)

As you said, if you want to lose files, move them. If you want to keep them, copy/paste/delete.
