Lost all my contacts a day or 2 ago. Tried to use the backup thing and that didn't work. Tried to link exchange account and now a whole bunch of useless outdated crap is stuck on my phone since it won't let me delete the exchange account.

I also lost the ability to use the cards thing that shows you the temperature and other info you get when you swipe all the way to your left.

I tried to import from my sim card but it said it was empty.

How do I fix this mess?

If you were syncing your Exchange contacts with your Contacts app, login to Gmail online and check the contacts list. If you have been saving them to your Google (Gmail) account - and I *highly* recommend you do - they might still be there and you should be able to just resync them to the phone.

If you have been saving them to Google but now they are gone online also, this will restore them to any point they were at in the last 30 days:

If you did not save your contacts to Google and did not do manual backups, then sorry, but the contacts are gone unless they still exist on the Exchange server.

I thought contacts were automatically saved.

I had my phone set to automatically sync data. However, the contacts aren't appearing online.

This happened around the same time as those info card things vanished.

Click on the link I gave and see if you can restore your contacts.

You must not have saved them to Google or you could've gotten them back. But weren't they still on the Exchange server?
