I received the recent update and now I can't uninstall updates to google maps. I'm stuck with maps 7. I use My Places and need 6.14.4. How do I install the better and older Maps 6.14.4. I've never rooted a phone, but it looks like that may be necessary.

You're gonna have to root, uninstall maps 7 (remove from System Apps Folder). Find a Maps 6.14.4 APK and install it, uncheck auto updates in play store and make sure to never update it manually.

No root required, just find the apk on 4 shared or a similar file sharing community. Will have to allow your phone to install from unknown sources for it to work(in settings).

You can't install an older version of Maps while you have a newer version. I've tried it before and I just tried it again to be sure.

uninstall the updates, then disable the app, then install the old apk.

That's exactly what I did, I'll repeat it and maybe try with another apk. I used the apk I pulled from my xt912m

Tried again, this is the msg that I get. Any thoughts?

Perhaps the fact that I have some other things disabled is affecting it.

I was able to uninstall Maps 7 and revert to 6.14.4 until I got the soak update. Now the 6.14.4 .apk will not install after receiving the soak test. I'm getting the same thing as adrialk. 18t are you able to use 6.14.4 with the new 12.15.15 update. If so can you tell me how you did it. Thanks

Sorry, I turned off the update. Can't test it.

anyone know if the simple motoroot method still works after the update. there is no way im doing the other method with telnet and all the other steps. i just want old maps back. seems like alot of risk and work just to get rid of a app they forced on me in the update. and also didnt say it was even in the update. thanks

Motoroot still works for me, but I already had it installed (though unrooted) when I installed the OTA. Someone else on the forum was indicating some trouble installing it after the OTA. Go try to install it - if it'll install, it will probably work.
