Just got the Verizon G4 in Metallic Blue yesterday, and I'm loving it.

What are some good tips and tricks to know about the G4? Thanks.

I upgraded from the S3, and wow, what a difference.

I've had no device problems with my G4, but I've encountered one or two of the commoner system problems, for which the links in sswitzer's sticky thread are useful, should you ever need. :)

(I'm assuming that Play Services battery drain for example is system rather than device....I could be wrong: device features may play a part at least.)

I am 12 Days into G4 with US Cellular (and also a new G3).
Coming from 2 Galaxy S4's and a Note II.
I absolutely love the audio qualities of this as a telephone. Galaxy sucked for audio with the best being the Note II
Battery life is marginal at best comparing to Note II. Better than the S4's but still lacking in my opinion. Also had a S5 for short time and again the audio sucks.
Sure, I know that the telephone aspect of communications is strictly ancillary to most of you but it is of paramount importance to me in my work. My work puts me over 5000 minutes a month average using phone.

Now here is where I am beginning to rethink the LG: No simultaneous internet (except when WIFI available) on this network and Sprint I understand too. WTF??
Sure nice that LG or the CARRIERS STOOD RIGHT OUT TO POINT IT OUT?? NOT!!
I have net seen any reference to that either in reviews before selecting the G3 and G4 . Of late I have found a few other people [language removed] about it and some very technical reasons as to why... I don't care why. It shouldn't be at this stage of the cell phone4G LTE game.

It is extremely convenient and useful to be able to access as backup and full data as is done with Samsun Kies PC software.

LG Bridge keeps telling me that it is not comparable with my phone.
I may keep this over priced POS only because of the great audio as that is very important to me. Otherwise you can keep it!!

I get that it is frustrating but the reasons why are below. It is a technology thing so not much they could do except build out the network faster. I would blame Sprint before you blame the phone manufactures since Verizon is in the same boat but Verizon has VoLTE on their network which solves the issue (Sprint doesn't).

GSM Carriers (AT&T / T-Mobile) – Both can use voice and data at the same. Either on HSPA or on LTE (using VoLTE).

CDMA Carriers (Sprint / Verizon) – These carriers can only handle voice or data. Not both at the same time… Unless using VoLTE. Verizon currently has VoLTE whereas Sprint doesn’t. You may be asking – why is this? My old phone did this... which I am sure it did. A longer explanation is below.

[INFO]The older phones had two CDMA radios put in them (such as the S3 on Sprint). One dedicated to voice -- another dedicated to data. Therefore you could do voice and data. GSM has always been one radio because that one radio can do both tasks at the same time. They got around it on CDMA by simply adding another radio in there and dedicating each one to one task.

Now they're getting rid of that second CDMA radio. So therefore you can only use talk, or data -- not both at the same time. Now if you're using VoLTE for your calls it will allow voice and data since the call will be going through LTE (as data) so it is technically then all data which would bypass this restriction.[/INFO]

I've had mine for 3 weeks now and my old Windows Phone is becoming a distant memory. One thing I like is the Google app that sends you notifications about things you're interested in. I surfed over to the Texas Rangers scores a couple times, and now it sends me Rangers updates when they're playing. It remembers where I parked my car even thought I didn't ask it to. It sends all kinds of tidbits like that, but intelligently, so the clutter is at a minimum. And if you've seen everything you want, you can clear all the notifications with one touch. Very nice.

The Smartlock is pretty groovy too.
