Love this phone but think I got a bad one.

Long post!

Yeah had a huge issue at the store. I already went through all the trouble shooting with Verizon tech support over the phone twice. The guy on the phone told me he marked it in my account that all I need to do is walk in and get the phone swapped. Spoke to him Thursday night.

Friday morning came and I went over to the store at 940am. I was in a hurry to finish my errands since I had to get to the airport for 1pm. I waited about 15 minutes for a person to call my name. When she came out she startes pressing buttons on the phone which I hate so much! (stop going through my phone) then she starts walking away with it to the back! So I say hey where are you going? She said she has to trouble shoot it. I told her we've already done that with tech support twice and factory reset. She told me it didn't matter that she has to do it too. Of course I explained to her that she is to just swap out for a new phone. She began to get angry and so did I. I grabbed my phone out of her hands and told her you will not take my phone in the back where I can't see you. Check my account and Give me a new phone. She stormed away to check my account. Anyway after lots of time she came out with a new phone and we don't give new phones since your past your 14 day return but as a courtesy we'll give you a new phone. (really?) after an hour I finally got the new phone. Even then she took my old sim card and messed up the lines.(I have 3 lines) I had to call her back out to fix it. Oh wait then she charges me the $38 "tax" even after I paid for it for the original phone! Verizon will have to hear an earful from me when I get back home.

There was another lady at the counter screaming at them. This is why I don't deal with the Verizon stores. Such horrible customer service. I hate to be a b-word but seriously? Do I have to go through all that a third time?

Trust me it isn't just Verizon. I had an issue at a Sprint store one day and I let them hear about it. There were about 7 people in line when the store opened and I was first. They took down names as we entered which was fine. About 2 minutes later a single associate came out and started helping me. I needed a phone replaced but they said it would have to be ordered and would be 2-3 days. I asked about a loaner device and said they didn't have one. Fine. Whatever. She went to the back to get something and as the door opened I saw the store manager with his feet on the desk talking to someone else while all these other customers were waiting to be helped. As soon as I left I called Sprint on the phone and kept asking for a supervisor until they wouldn't let me go any higher. I then ripped that person a new one about the service in the store.

Just a few hours later I got a call from the store saying they had a replacement phone for me. Hmm, from 3 days to same day. Funny how that works.

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience in-store. Pretty much the opposite of what I just experienced yesterday when I took my faulty G4 in to the local corporate Verizon store. My phone has uneven backlighting which results in a strip of dimness right across the display. It's been driving me nuts, so I finally managed to get myself in there for a swap. Keep in mind, this is with no prior contact from me to their customer service, online or phone; I just waltzed in cold and said, hey my phone is messed up. The guy who was helping me took one look, said "Yeah, I see it. Let's get you a new phone", and that was it. Unfortunately they were out of stock on the black leather at the time, but he's going to get one in for me and then give me a call. No muss, no fuss, most pleasant Verizon experience I've had in years.

That's ridiculous. I know they are trained to do whatever is possible to prevent having to give out another phone but that's just unprofessional. That sounds like a store with poor management and training. I never had issues like that with the one here when I was with Verizon.

Glad you finally got your replacement device. Let us know how it is!

When we had Verizon (before we switched to ATT) service was horrible and they did the same thing. Take the phone out of your hands, start pushing buttons and then walk away with it. Must be part of the their training. Oh yeah, and they screwed up my Sim card as well so I had to go back. Apparently nothing has changed. We have had nothing but positive experiences at our local ATT store since then.

That's so horrible...
Tell you, we are at the mercy of who waits on us.
I deal with the 4 carriers weekly as I manage my company's mobile platform and I will say Verizon is the toughest.
Not shilling for at&t but they really have become the easiest and best experience....In general. T-Mobile as well.
Not to deal w carriers is one reason I'm holding off on the G4 and sticking w my Nexus 6...even though I want that camera.

If anyone is having to pay a so called "tax" again when you have already paid it.,refuse to pay it. There is no tax on a warranty return, nor can they legally charge you a restocking fee It is illegal for them to double tax you for this. Show them your original receipt and the taxes that have been paid. Stand up for yourself.

You are correct but they wear you down and stall and harang until you are thrilled to pay the ripoff tax just to get away.

I'm going to call up customer service and give them an ear full now!
So how's the new unit?
So far it seems to be working a little better. The responsiveness seems better. No screen flickering that I've noticed. Haven't had a chance to really judge it since I've been in Florida for a family function. Was able to take amazing pics btw! Now that I'm back I can focus more on the phone.

I seriously was done. I was in a rush cause by that time I was running behind on my errands. With a plane to catch I just said whatever.

Btw I noticed there a few things this phone has that the other one didn't! For example I use Google music and stream lot. With the other device I was getting pretty angry that there was no music controls on the lock screen. With this replacement the music controls are there! I found it so weird. Not sure if it's something I disabled. But glad it's there!

Only thing I can think of is disabling the notifications on the lock screen disables the controls as most music apps are treated that way now. Not sure what your situation was though. Glad your new unit is working out for you!

That's what they're counting on

That's weird. Not sure what is going on.

I'm so tempted to return S6E and get another G4 since I miss it so much but noticed in another thread that your new G4 that you got still has some touch issues? How is this new unit overall? The only reason I'm asking is I don't like the size of S6E and I think camera is better on G4. Shutter is slower but takes better pics on S6E, IMHO. Please help me decide lol

Well I can't help you decide the decision is yours. The touch thing is a little better on the replacement. I don't have to press on an app 3 times for it to recognize my touch. The tap twice to wake is a little rougher. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

When I was on the phone with Verizon I was told the are several updates coming to fix screen responsiveness and several other issues. I'm surprised the updates haven't been pushed yet.

When it comes to a carrier phone -- I would take the "update is coming very soon" as a grain of salt. They usually aren't quick. Not saying never .. just saying they're never usually very fast about wanting to push out updates. They have to ensure all their bloat doesn't mess with the phone.

I've been getting 1 hour SoT with a verizon. Mines over heating constantly too.. Maybe time to return it.

I was just joking on the part where I said to help me decide :)

I was just trying to see if there is light at the end of the tunnel. I agree that updates may take forever since they have to add tons of bloat and all but if exchanging the unit helped with lag and most of the issues then it's good. As long as I don't have to tap 3 times to pull the keyboard or open an app, you know?
