So finally I got the Note 5 after waiting for what the 6s plus had to offer. I love the iPhone but Android always gets me back after a month with any new iPhone :-). (Have been using the nexus 5 with Marshmallow for the last few months). Didn't wait till the 29th for the new nexus as I am positive nexuses will have horrible cameras like always:

Here are the reasons I chose Note 5 over the iPhone 6S+:

1. Cost & value for money

An iPhone 6s+ 16gb is 749. I bought the Note 5 from Costco and they have a 175 mail in rebate promotion bringing the cost of the beast to 699-175 = 524. Heck they even gave me a car charger and a cradle for the phone.

2. Samsung pay

Accepted at any retailer as opposed to apple pay at select few. Finally I can lighten my wallet by 75%

3. Lighter Touchwhiz

Touchwhiz was the deal breaker for me all these years. It has improved tremendously and feels a lot lighter now. I am using novalauncher and made my phone look as stock as possible. Didn't want to pay for the material theme yet.

4. Storage

32gb vs 16gb on the base iPhone

5. Moto 360 2nd edition

Apple watch is awesome but expensive and square/rectangular. I prefer a round one and the upcoming moto 360 looks amazing.

6. S pen, an added bonus

Not going to use S pen much but definitely has some cool features and might get me interested in using it more

7. Fast Charging & wireless Charging

6S plus will definitely have a better battery but that is easily compensated by the super handy quick and wireless Charging

Loving the note 5 so far and to use it for a long time :-)

Peace !!!

I was thinking about giving it a try. We will see. I haven't decided yet. I can always Jump to it and if I don't like it, return it for the the new iPhone if I want.

Same boat and like your reasons. Worried a bit by the battery on the note but going in a store and picking a note up without lines like the 6 s plus would be great.

One thing I don't see mentioned that often is this...

with my previous HTC One M8, if I was on the phone, or talking with someone, and they want to give me their phone number, or address, or a confirmation #, it's just easier to quickly grab a piece of paper and jot it down!

Having to unlock your phone, go to apps, open up a note taking app, etc. etc. just to jot down a quick note is a pain! I also don't necessarily want to have to type out something that I only need for a little while!

I'd jot a note down on a scrap of paper, then, more often then not, lose the scrap of paper! So I got in the habit of taking a quick photo of the piece of paper, so that I'd always have the info in my phone!

NOW... I simply extract the SPen, jot the info quickly on the black screen of my Note5, and put the stylus back (tip forward!!!).

Note is now saved automatically in my phone for future use, and, if it's, say, a phone number or address, I can quickly use action memos to either dial the phone number or launch map program to navigate to the address!

It's really such a fantastic feature, for the way I live!

This is how I used the Note as well. I never needed a post-it. The ability to write on the screen without actually opening an app actually saves a lot of time. One of the reasons why I didn't think the Note 4 was worth it, is because when I counted the steps from taking a note with the Note 4 versus taking a note with my iPhone, it actually took less steps to accomplish it with my iPhone. And, I thumb type faster on my iPhone than I could write on my the Note. So I'm glad they added that feature because it makes a lot of sense.

Or you can be like everyone else and just ask the person you are talking to , to just text you their number.

I'm loving my note 5. People commenting that TW is slow and that the note 5 has bad battery life, obviously never used one. The battery on this thing is a beast, I've had the phone for about a month now and its been lightning quick. I came from stock Android, and have no complaints so far about the smoothness of the note 5. The note is really in a class of its own, and I'm really enjoying the added features of this TW after spending 3 years on stock Android. I live in Thailand so got the factory unlocked version with no bloatware, and couldn't be happier.

Yeah had it for about a week and must say the battery is better than the iPhone 6. Normally had to charge half way through the day but now make it until 9-10 at night on one charge and heavy use. Also thought I wouldn't use the pen at all, but jotting down quick notes is nice!

Coming from the GS4 myself, this feels like a totally different experience. Loving this lots better than the S4.

I went from a Note 3 that because a mess after the kit kat update, to a G3 that I loved and was flawless for a year and a half, then to the Note 5. I was hesitant due to my Note 3 experience, but this thing is incredible. I love the size and feel of the note 5 in my hand. It flies, and TW is significantly less annoying with the new themes. Loving it so far

Hey OP - you are not alone. :)

I am an extremely picky cell phone user, and so far this N5 is just a home run. People don't tend to be driven to forums when they love their phones - they are often on forums to solve issues - or just to *****. So it's great to hear when people are thrilled, as I suspect that vast majority of owners are.

It gets better too... as the battery gets charged/discharged, it get BETTER!

I saw an improvement in battery life after charging several times. Has leveled off now. Still have 35 - 40% left after moderate / heavy use at the end of the day.
