Low brightness = purple hue

Hey everyone. I just received my new Galaxy Nexus LTE and I am noticing something really weird. When I am somewhere dark or I turn my brightness down my keyboard gets a purple hue. They are definitively not black. The weirdest thing about it all is that my back button, home button, and apps button are still black.

In the image one is showing the brightness all the way up and the other is showing the brightness all the way down. I notice all over my phone, not just the keyboard. I also compared this to my brothers Galaxy Nexus and his stay black and do not go purple.

Any ideas?

That's weird, there's a similar problem with the Nokia Lumia 900. Is it a problem with AMOLEDs maybe? You'd think it would have been discovered by now if it were a problem with the screen tech.

That might be something worth a return I'm afraid. Although I get a sort of striation effect at low brightness, which is normal for this type of AMOLED, I've never seen that purple happen. The screen looks like it isn't calibrated right (gamma is off). I wouldn't drive myself nuts over it and just swap the phone if you can.

getting a purple color on Grays is typical with this screen technology...HOWEVER, THAT, is very purple. i would exchange it out if possible...that is a defect.

I have a slight blue tint. This is because blue pixels burn out the quickest, so they are "oversaturated" (meaning there are more of them than others) in order to stave off this burn out.

That being said, I agree with the above; that's a bit too...off. Exchange it!
