"Low on space. Application data space is low." notification.

I am getting phone storage low error messages since putting on Verizon's GB.
I have used 350mb and have 400 mb free.
Thoughts on that one?

Low on Space
Phone storage space is getting low

Maybe that is why big red pulled it? I deleted cache and the delvik cache and so far so good.

I just tried the. 605? Gingerbread RUU, and the memory issue is still there. I just don't get it, I have more apps on and use my Droid X way more, and have never seen this error on it. So if this is an Android OS limitation, why does the HTC get it and not the Motorolla?

Just keeping Facebook and Twitter from syncing with your contacts saves a lot of space and prevents the amount of space that Dialer Storage and contacts use.

Also, keep the size and amount of days that your email accounts sync at a low level. Ever since I've done that, I've never had any issues with being low on space, until I went to Gingerbread.

When I went to Gingerbread, I had to reset my syncing and email sync rates accordingly, and that fixed the issues.

Good question. I don't know about you guys, but the Incredible's Gingerbread update has made this application data space low error much much worse for me.

Check post #52 in this thread. The hard 150 MB data/data partition is the crux of the problem. This is an Android OS limitation on every android phone. When the partition gets close to full (within ~10 MB from my observations) the low on space alarm goes off. Another contributing factor may be sloppy dev work (particular apps using this partition unnecessarily). I had one game app which generated ~30 MB worth of data in the data/data partition after playing just one level. Needless to say, that app was uninstalled posthaste. I think the devs are wising up to the limitation as the apps I always keep on my phone seem to be generating smaller footprints in this partition. Also, moving apps to the SD card *seems* to help on some apps. I'm rooted running CM7 nightlies changing about 2x a week. CM7 stock apps + ~150 user apps and my data/data sits at about 70 MB used. When I was stock and when running Sense-based roms, I was at about 120 - 130 MB used. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to check this partition if you are not rooted.

daj

150mb is nothing in today's data world. I can not believe they are not working to make this data partition bigger, or at least start utilizing the phones internal storage or SD card storage when the data storage partition starts to fill up.

Do ROOT users not have the ability to tweak and change this data partition size?

Mine came back so I did a full wipe and then reinstalled the ROM again.
No issues since.
I think something is wrong with sense in this build that is causing the issue.

But friends that have an X always complain about since putting GB on the keyboard locks up.

My wife got it the other day - we erased the bajillion test messages she had saved and it went away.
