Has anyone noticed an appreciable increase in battery by changing the resolution from 4k to 1080? I just got my g7 yesterday and haven't had time to run any tests. Figured I'd ask the community in the meantime

Lower res should lower battery consumption. Fewer screen locations to control.

Not sure on the G7 but on the S9 line (and the ones with that feature that came before it) it does help. It's not 'wow! this thing lasts 5 days now!' good, but it does save you a couple hours of battery life at least.

More battery life. I read it as "uses more battery".
@SpookDroid: I used to think that 4 days on a Note 3 with very light use was great, but if I could get 5 days - from 80% to 40% (the long lifetime range) - I wouldn't be ecstatic, I'd be stupefied. I don't see that happening until we discover what Tesla had in mind, and include "Tesla wireless" chargers in phones.

Well, with light use I think I can squeeze more than a couple days out of an S9+ (I definitely could with my brief time with the Note 7), so maybe with the lower res yeah, 3+ days might be possible. Now, to use my phones lightly for that...well, that might be more difficult haha.
