Ok as some have heard the Bionic is being upgraded to the targa phone because of hardware issues. the reason I've read on another sight is the nvideo dual core chip doesn't play nice with the Qualcomm lte radio. the targa phone has a dual core omap chip that does play nice. So to me that sounds like why the xoom doesn't have 4g yet. interesting indeed.

I wonder how people with the 3G xoom will react if Moto doesnt upgrade the antenna to 4G ever.

I signed a form when I purchased at Costco that acknowledged 4G was not enabled at the time of purchase but would be upgraded at a later date.

I'd be very upset, this was one of the major selling points for me.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't have a few working 4G models to use as an upgrade path before they sold the Xoom.

Do you really have to ask, in today's world? And though I hate the culture of litigation and blame, in this case it would probably be justifiable.

- It's "Nvidia"
- We ALREADY have a Qualcomm radio in the 3G devices
- The LTE radio isn't going to be a QCT part
- Even a 200MHz ARM processor will "play nice" with LTE, the speeds ain't that fast
- I have personally seen the -MR1 code and the code for the LTE device is in there

I for one don't care about this because I have a wifi Xoom, but this could prove troublesome for future handsets on AT&T and Verizon, who knows this could just be a Motorola problem.

I remember just a few weeks ago when everybody in the bionic forum thought these people coming in and saying the bionic was dead were crazy. And now its gone from the moto website. I wish I knew more about the technical ins and outs. People on both sides seem to know what there talking about. All I know at this point for sure is the bionic is dead.. and I believe lte on the xoom died with it.

The Xoom was sold with the promise of LTE. I'm fairly sure Motorola can't go back on that promise.

I have to agree with that assessment. Yes we were tolld it was not LTE capable at the time we bought it but we were promised it. It is in all of the advertising, it is printed on the box. Moto would be suicidal to back down at this point because the class action lawsuit would hit them before they ever finished the announcement that it wasn't going to be a 4g device. It will happen weather it does in the promised 90 days or not is a whole different story.
