My house is aprrox 2 miles from two different towers. In my home my lte signal constantly flashes 4g for like two seconds then back to 3g.
Through trial and error I have found that if you dial ##3282# click edit and edvo, change your settings from cdma/hdr/lte to just cdma/lte I get a constant lte connection in my home. with one to two bars I average about 5-6 mbs down in my home on 1 or 2 bars. Now when I go about a half mile in any direction I am getting speeds about 14 -30 down depending how close to a tower I am in.

I was having the same problem, would connect to 4G after toggling Airplane Mode or after doing a Profile Update but would drop 4G just after a couple seconds. I will try this and see if it helps me and report back. BTW I'm in Kansas City.

If you're rooted get MSL Reader from the market. If not rooted then you will have to call Sprint and ask them for it. Just search "how to obtain MSL from Sprint", there are many threads out there about it.

I also have noticed when I am on cdma/lte only and if I do a profile update or prl it defaults back to cdma/hdr/lte also after a call or a text message it defaults back but i just change it back to cdma/lte and get a instant lock and solid lte connection. I am going to download a stock rooted rom and see if it is a custom rom issue. I was looking to see if I could find the previous radio to flash to see if it was a radio issue.

I remember a few weeks ago with they were turning on a particular site, for about a day i could get a lte connection and the signal strenght was about the same but it was stayed on. that was on a stock rooted rom old radio

Same issue with a stock rom, rooted, s-on. I'd say there is some kind of problem and that the latest update may have fixed the issue. Problem is I don't want to lose the ability to root if I do the update.

there are custom roms that use the new update as a base. I am thinking the drop off settings are a little to agressive but seems like an easy fix

If you're willing to do the HTC Dev Unlock, you can easily regain root. I purposely took the Update for the radios and other bug fixes. Then turned around, HTC dev unlocked, flashed custom recovery, and flashed a stock updated and rooted ROM with goodies. Very happy...except for the fleeting 2 second blip of LTE. I'll try the method described by OP.

Update: if you're having problems keeping the setting CDMA/LTE only , after selecting it, look at the top right of that page, you'll see a little menu button, select it, then hit commit. Your phone will reboot, and the settings stick. I also went ahead and changed my proxy settings to all zeros, and my DNS to Google's. Seems a little snappier loading pages on the web. Just make sure you screen shot before you change anything so you can revert later if it doesn't work for you. Changed my proxy settings a while back...but factory reset a few times already loading ROMs. Just have to remind myself to check these settings afterwards.

Edit/update: nope, it won't stick. After some time and various checks, it reverted back on its own. One thing I noted too was that I could only get 1x-RTT while connected to my airave at home while on CDMA / LTE only setting. Rather disappointed. Oh well.
