Just some help for anyone else that might be having this issue. Maybe you don't even know you're having it. If you're on AT&T you should be using the Nextgenphone APN (even though AT&T says you should use the Phone APN). I had only ever got an H by my data icon in the notification bar, and wasn't even sure what the icon for LTE was. I do know that I was only getting about 6 Mbps down. My last phone was an LG G2 and used the Nextgenphone APN. I had to get a new sim because the G2 used a micro sim. When I tried the Nextgenphone APN on my 5X I got no connection. I called AT&T and they said that their system had no info for the 5X so LTE was not provisioned. The tech had me turn off the phone (so call them from a different phone) while she made some changes. After I turned my phone back on and switched to the Nextgenphone APN, the LTE icon came up after about 10 seconds. First time I ever saw it! So if you don't see LTE by your network icon, call AT&T and get it fixed.
