LTE stopped working

For some reason, my phone switched to 3g and no matter what I've tried, it won't come back. I've put the phone in Airplane Mode, toggled data, changed it from CDMA to Global. Nothing.

Confirmed that there is nothing wrong on the carrier end too.

Any thoughts on what else I can try?

It's the unlocked model using US Cellular.
 
Is this an ongoing issue or just recently? Maybe the tower is in maintenance mode.

Just a thought...
 
I'm glad you said that though. I switched just for fun and rebooted and now I have LTE!


cool! glad it helped! I know I'm supposed to be on lte/cdma, but that setting pulls my signal down so I set it to cdma while at home because even if I'm really lucky, that's all I'm going to get anyway.
 
Lol I started reading through this thread and I wondering.... this is odd. Have have a US cellular outage here now due to tower upgrades. I guess some users could bounce off the other tower but idk. I saw some guys working on the tower today and stopped by. I was hoping they were installing a new Verizon macro but no luck. They were changing out panels for us cellular.
 
And it's not the first time it happened. I was having issues with low serviced areas switching to 3g and not immediately switching back. But this is the first time I couldn't get it to switch back at all.

did you try a reboot, wipe the external cache, or update your ?prn or ?profile? don't know that any of that would help, but those are the first things I try when I'm having issues, the last two being phone specific and that's the only reason I try them.

I don't have an option for prn/ profile. Not sure how to do external cache though. Several reboots

do you have any apps/services blocked? I do and I noticed mine aren't available either, but they are there normally. they are standard phone service things that can be updated and then your phone reboots

I definitely don't but I know profile/prn normally isn't present on us cellular.

I'll probably try another phone call with the carrier just to make sure there's nothing wrong. Otherwise maybe I'll factory reset the device.
 
I don’t have that available either. I think it’s only on older androids or CDMA networks. That’s what those things are for anyways. PRL is for CDMA and profile, I believe, is the same as carrier updates on iPhones. Which is for LTE.
 
mystery solved. you won't have update profile seems it's a cdma thing and prn won't apply in this situation anyway
 
Welp. Went back to Global and it works. This is quite the mystery to say the least.

that was what I was thinking. if it was working in lte mode then it logically should work in global too. my devices always have a mystery or two in store for me
