M8 Prime (@evleaks)

Re: HTC One m8 prime?

Can't really think of what they would do with this. Isn't the Galaxy S5 Prime supposed to have a more premium metal body? I mean in HTC's case the best you could do is bump the CPU and Screen up, and maybe the ram. But really you don't need a S805 processor or even 3GB of RAM, not to mention 2K screens on mobile devices sounds gimmicky to me I just don't things they'll show huge advantages compared to the battery life they'll surely require.

Exactly. The S5 Pro (not sure where everyone gets Prime from) is supposedly an answer to design critics and the 3GB of RAM may cure the "lag" issue that sees it trail Sense 6 and stock Android. If I was Samsung, I'd release it with stock Android. Can't see a lot of enthusiasts turn down that kind of hardware with stock Android powering it. I'd probably grab one.

It will also be the next big thing for battery drain lol

I'd have to imagine that LG and Samsung have addressed that in some way. I doubt they'd release 2 devices that can't at least match their previous works in battery life.

I don't know, they released the s5 with a bunch of lag (thanks to TouchWiz). Optimization isn't really Samsung's main concern it seems

Hopefully your right though

There's not a bunch of lag on the S5. It's just not as smooth as Sense/Stock. Battery life, on the other hand, is spectacular. They typically don't disappoint in that regard. That said, I don't know how I feel about 1440p.

I tend to agree. I think the display will take a small amount more battery and the phones will have better optimization and last even longer.

Hey, maybe there's a bright side to not picking up an M8 after all... have to keep an eye out for this one.

All they have to do is announce it ships with pure KitKat and that might make me pull out my wallet again.

I would be really interested if the M8 Prime came with the HK software. The current HK M8 is a "no go" for me......won't switch to Sprint.

So when the S5 Prime was leaked, everyone chimed in to troll or defend....Now the M8 Prime is leaked the inverse happens....Whatever...Enjoy the super computer you have in your pocket for 2 years...

Well seeing a prime device rumoured is a double edged sword. On one half you have people (and potential customers) excited about a possible new device. On the other hand you have the people that just shelled out good money just several weeks prior. Bit of justified buyers remorse.

Re: HTC One m8 prime?

Yeah... there's always something new around the corner, and additional variants of flagship devices aren't exactly unexpected. Still, certainly not unjustified.

Being a bit of a tech enthusiast I never get upset about new iterations/device's. :) I really enjoy it and the hype leading to each release. I have the M7 and like the M8, Moto X, G2, Oppo, One Plus One and soon to be G3. Still really enjoy my One though.

Re: HTC One m8 prime?

Oh no. I hope this isn`t true. This hurts everyone who bought the flagships already and could stop future sales of current flagships. This does not make sense from a business standpoint. I don`t even need to see a reason for it from a technical standpoint either.

Well HTC one is 1200 dolars in Turkey so i guess prime will be 2000? I should start thinking to find a job for it so that I can pay my rent after buying it.

Realistically, what is the prime version going to have?

Snapdragon 805
2k resolution screen, possibly even larger than 5"
Maybe 3gb ram
Improved camera
larger battery
Can't imagine the build being any more premium than what it already is

So what's the point of releasing a device like that in a few months? Why not just release it as the M9 next year?
