Thanks! Mine doesn't work, I had tried b4 & just did again. So at least I know with a properly working SS you are able to transfer photos back & forth between Mac & phone. When I click the "V" I do get the folder & subfolders but all are empty! (I have ~ 30 photos on the phone. On the SD card.)You click on the "v" that is next to the phone name when you connect and you'll see a folder next to the internal memory. Click that and a window will pop up. I was able to transfer everything from my card to my computer through that no problem.
This may be the way for me to fix this. I am doing another backup with SS bc I wanted to both b.u. to my Mac & b.u. to the SD card. (Not sure how exactly to to the latter. ) However, SS is hanging @ 86% as it did when I 1st used it. I canceled back then & tried again w/o backing up SD card & it worked & then did it again with SD card & worked & have done complete b.u. another time w/o issue . But now it is back to the original problem.I did cancel & b.u. w/o SD card but when tried again wi SD, it again is hanging @ 86%, >30 min now. My SD card is almost empty & I have 0 videos, 0 music so it is not merely slow due to much content.blueGN7: I was following your other thread as I was also in the same boat as you. I just uninstalled Smart Switch and Android File Transfer. I then reinstalled Android File Transfer, plugged in my Note 7 and now I can connect to the computer and move files to my heart's content. I can see the SD card as a "drive".
... Uninstalling Smart Switch was not a hardship for me and now I have the phone as a directory so I can do what I want with the files.
I will probably uninstall SS which is easy due to uninstall program that came with it. But uninstalling AFT is not so easy as I've read. There is no uninstall program included & simply dragging the app to the trash supposedly does not work as much AFT stuff is left behind. I may try to manually uninstall by gong to all the system folders & manually deleting stuff ....but not today. If I do eventually end up with a working AFT & no SS, how do I do a complete backup of the phone including all settings, options, etc? Not sure I would know which files to copy that will save me the trouble of setting up my new Note 7 (if we ever get them)
This is very time consuming & annoying.
