Mac users only, How do you U/L photos to your Mac?

You click on the "v" that is next to the phone name when you connect and you'll see a folder next to the internal memory. Click that and a window will pop up. I was able to transfer everything from my card to my computer through that no problem.
Thanks! Mine doesn't work, I had tried b4 & just did again. So at least I know with a properly working SS you are able to transfer photos back & forth between Mac & phone. When I click the "V" I do get the folder & subfolders but all are empty! (I have ~ 30 photos on the phone. On the SD card.)

blueGN7: I was following your other thread as I was also in the same boat as you. I just uninstalled Smart Switch and Android File Transfer. I then reinstalled Android File Transfer, plugged in my Note 7 and now I can connect to the computer and move files to my heart's content. I can see the SD card as a "drive".

... Uninstalling Smart Switch was not a hardship for me and now I have the phone as a directory so I can do what I want with the files.
This may be the way for me to fix this. I am doing another backup with SS bc I wanted to both b.u. to my Mac & b.u. to the SD card. (Not sure how exactly to to the latter. ) However, SS is hanging @ 86% as it did when I 1st used it. I canceled back then & tried again w/o backing up SD card & it worked & then did it again with SD card & worked & have done complete b.u. another time w/o issue . But now it is back to the original problem.I did cancel & b.u. w/o SD card but when tried again wi SD, it again is hanging @ 86%, >30 min now. My SD card is almost empty & I have 0 videos, 0 music so it is not merely slow due to much content.

I will probably uninstall SS which is easy due to uninstall program that came with it. But uninstalling AFT is not so easy as I've read. There is no uninstall program included & simply dragging the app to the trash supposedly does not work as much AFT stuff is left behind. I may try to manually uninstall by gong to all the system folders & manually deleting stuff ....but not today. If I do eventually end up with a working AFT & no SS, how do I do a complete backup of the phone including all settings, options, etc? Not sure I would know which files to copy that will save me the trouble of setting up my new Note 7 (if we ever get them)

This is very time consuming & annoying.

I use an app called App Cleaner to uninstall apps on my MBP.

And I used something called App Zap which I think was free. I've had it long enough now I can't remember if it might have come as part of a bundle.

Haven't tried that one yet. Maybe I'll look into it.

Re: Mac will not recognize Note 7, I tried….

Update:

Samsung tech support was WRONG.
Smart Switch can indeed move photos to & from phone & Mac!
I uninstalled & reinstalled SS.
I uninstalled AFT.
Now SS works both for backup/restore & to move files.
BTW, when I reinstalled S, I got pop up that stated:
“Notification: If SS installed, AFT may not run, To run AFT normally, please uninstall SS.”

For moving photos, See my post
“ Mac users only, How do you U/L photos to your Mac?”

I uninstalled AFT. (manually since didn’t like reviews on some of the app removal apps. Drag app to trash & then search for remnants using Finder)

My newly taken photos are located on the SD card so must click “card” b4 going through the file system of my phone. DCIM/Camera
I also have photos on the phone External/DCIM/Camera
& External Data/DCIM/Camera
& Android/Upload
So, you may need to poke around some b4 finding all your photos.

I also successfully moved some PDF documents from Mac to phone.
SD card has; Podcasts, Music, DCIM/Camera, Android/Data & LOST.DIR

I created new folder on SD card “Documents-SD card”

If you mean Smart Switch, Already have it installed on my iMac & it is preinstalled in my Note7 but, while it is excellent for backing up the phone & restoring, it is NOT able to move files to & from phone & Mac. Samsung confirmed this today. Cannot move photos from phone to computer to view, edit, etc. Cannot move a PDF document from computer to phone.

Yes, I signed up for AirDroid to move some wallpaper I had D/L to my computer onto my phone until I can figure out a way to direct connect the 2 via USB.

Matter of fact- I JUST did this very thing now with the AirDroid App !! :)

Not what I am seeking to accomplish either. (And to answer a question posed to me earlier in this thread. I only used "Kies" once and it didnt work for what I was looking for - though i did NOT have any adverse effects to either device. Sorry.

WHAT I AM SEEKING TO DO IS THIS MY FRIENDS................

Have a setup where I can either connect a USB (or wirelessly I don't care) and be able to create different folders BY NAME and place photos inside these folders on my MacBook Pro - while simultaneously having them adjust accordingly on my Note 7 Device as well. More or less - like setting up different Picture Folders and simply dragging which pics I want to be within them - so all I need to do ON MY NOTE 7- would be scroll to the specific folder and open them up to see pictures of "My Service Dog, or Truck, or Ducati, etc" - Sorta Mirroring whats in the "Samsung File" after being connected to my MBP. .

Does this sound like something that can be done my friends? I swear I did something like this with my Samsung S5 & MBP?

All it would mean, is that the Note 7 would be seen / used as an "External Drive" and have folders in it which were created on the MBP side of the house. I am REALLY HOPING this is something feasible to be done, thus far I cannot do it on ANYTHING from the App Store or Google Store on my Note 7. ERRRRRRR

I put smart switch on my MacBook pro..copied everything from my note 7 to my MacBook.
Got a new phone used smart switch and dud a restore on my Note 7.
Realize on the Note 7. It already has smart seitch under settings and then under accounts..
So don't download smart switch tobthe note 7.

Not entirely sure that msg was meant for me "cardboard60" ? Also not sure I understand it to a "T" either buddy?

Is what I explained above in Post #48 possible folks?
If so, EXACTLY what Apps need to be downloaded on BOTH the MBP & the Note 7 itself to accomplish this task?

Hell, I consider myself somewhat technically proficient yet I can't even seem to get the Note recognized as a "Drive" nor create separate Folders inside my phone, named for each different subject I wish to put pics inside of. Lol. I feel like a total joke right now and am turning to all you Professional Android users for help on this one folks! Thanks so much!

Gunny

Unless I missed reading a compelling reason above, just use Google Photos.

Put the app on your phone.
Put the app on your mac.

View photos from either.

If you go to Setting on your phone and go to Accounts.
Smart switch is already on your Iphone 7.
You don't reinstall it.
Hello.

I use Dropbox sync but there is also an app called PhotoSync that is good to transfer images between units.
