Macro mode on the S20+

I've always found macro mode to be kind of pointless anyway. A true macro lens is designed for extreme close ups. On a phone, the focus is just adjusted.

Have tried using manual focus in manual mode? Sometimes, depending on how close you need it to be, that helps.

I would have thought that with Samsung aiming to be the world's best, they'd have all angles covered...
You could spend thousands on DSLR lenses and not "have all angles covered." I think there's a general situation of expectations being set too high when it comes to cameras on a phone these days.

Agreed Mooncatt.

I spent a lot of money on lenses when I had my DSLR. Including 4 macro lenses over the years.

I'm not expecting the quality of a DSLR of course, but...

One Plus 8
Realme
Redmi
Oppo

and others.

I believe even the Galaxy M31 and A71 have a dedicated macro mode from what I read.

Just surprising the with the S20 series, Samsung chose not to include it.

It gives decent macro using x3 zoom in 3:4 mode (until you examine the images closely).

Maybe the engineers will bring out an update which does it on the S20 range. I live in hope!

My assumption is they don't have one because of how much larger the new image sensor is. It effects depth of field and focus distance negatively for macro.
