Made in China :(

to be honest...who says american products are better? I for one, would never buy an american car again, along with many other things "made in the usa"

i know i should support my country of birth and a country that has given me so many opportunities, but lets face it, besides millitary equipment, USA fails on most products they manufacture...

since companies have to pay american workers higher wages, unions, etc...they have to minimize on their expense costs, which usually results in inferior products due to cheap materials

I agree with you most Chevy and ford vehicles are assembled in the united states but if you look at the individual parts they are mostly imported. Its just how it goes, its cheaper tax wise to manufacture in another country(even though that country has the us by the throat) then import it then it is to completely manufacture the product in the us.

Just because people don't like American cars, it's not a reason to blame hard working union skilled employees. All who have help to keep America strong all these years. Just sayin...:):thumbup:

People talk about american cars not being any good, I used to work at auto zone and I'll say this, I've NEVER seen a single honda from before the early 90s come in for something minor. They usually want a transmission.

Same with most other foreign cars

On the other hand, most gm vehicles, I've seen tons more of them from as far back as the 50's still running with an original engine.

Ford on the other hand, they are the dark side of american cars lol.

We used to say it stood for
Fixed often, rarely driven
Fix or repair daily
Frequently overhauled, rarely driven

I'd say american made cars are damn well built depending on who built them!

Everyone should try to help the local economy and job market but... If you can buy something for less money that works better, what's the problem with that? American union labor has ruined the idea of quality products and made it impossible to buy anything at a reasonable price! Everyone has the idea that China labor rates are unfair? They are not. They get paid a LOT less than us but then again, they are not forced to pay $3 for a gallon of milk either! Don't you ever wonder why no other country buys goods from the US? We make expensive crap! The ONLY thing that we export that other countries are interested in is software.

Biggest load of **it I've read yet, if it weren't for the unions in America you would be making $4.25 an hour working twelve hour shifts without life and health Insurance or paid vacations, lunch break. , wise up! Just saying:thumbup:

Unions were needed at a time for tis purpose, but nowadays, unions aren't needed, they are legalized gangs bullying companies and even employees.

They have served their purpose and should just disappear.

This coming from a guy that's worked union and non union jobs

American made and American assembled are two very completely different things. There is no car, motorcycle, etc 100% American made. don't believe me just look under the kick panels at the wiring and computers that say made in China , gm & Harley, that includes you. I would pay more if it was American made cellphone for sure, but don't blame it all on the unions, trust me union's now a days suck. im in one. blame the government for free trade, higher taxes and less dependents on home made stuff.

anybody who was in the war effort in WW2 would be rolling in their graves at how much we don't make here. oh btw china's . 79 cent shipping doesn't help any.

Yeah, I really don't understand where these people are not getting it. Throwing Americans jobs away" because it's cheaper " because hurts everyone in the long run. Americans have one e of the best work ethics in the world and not everyone can be a CEO or wall street broker.

Had. I'm not sure if everyone still has that type of work ethic these days, but that's just my own opinion.

true....american car assembly unions want their employees to get $40/hr plus...that is ridiculous and what bankrupted the american car business...its their own undoing

Well that and poor design, no research, no development, and being undermined by pretty much every other manufacturing nation out there.

Seeing the pricing on American cars, you look an over all labor cost not bad when compared with other outside car manufacturers which are made here for same labor, yet on average cost more.

Oh, no argument there.w know American car manufactures lost their edge due to complacency and over confidence. They seem to have gotten wake up call and I hope the can stay in the game for the long haul.

Unions are still needed. The problem is that the pendulum swung too far to the union side and people were getting paid $35 a hour for doing what a trained monkey could do. But before unions it swung too far too the employer's side. Take away the unions (which is what the "right to work" movement is trying to do) and in time people will be fighting for a $3.50 an hour job, with no benefits or increased hourly rate for overtime.
Balance people, balance.

Too funny! I love it!
Every other developed country in the world makes fun of our work ethic BECAUSE of the union! If labor unions are so great and we need them so bad, why isn't it voluntary?

At one point in time, we absolutely needed them. Our swift rise as an industrial power meant things like wages, hours, and conditions got overlooked--sometimes purposefully, sometimes not. In order to protect each other, aggregation and collective bargaining was the only "way out."

We see this in countries like China; massive, quick rises to industrial power in exchange for a complete disregard for individual life. Obviously, political conditions in China are a "tad different" than political conditions in early 20th century America, but still, the same contexts are prevalent.

Whether they are necessary now is up for debate, a debate in which I am constantly torn.

I don't want to buy anything made in Korea. Korea throws up artificial trade barriers to American agricultural products. The Koreans can sit on their thumbs and spin. China, on the other hand, generally clamors for American products. I do like Girls Generation, though. I mean I really like 'em. Really.
If American productivity is so low then why does BMW, Toyota, and others want to build factories here. True, that action placates American political interests, and other considerations, but those companies will tell you they generally have no major problems with American workers.
What with high wages and environmental issues it is comparatively expensive to do business in America and Western Europe. China is even starting to outsource to Vietnam.

If you care at all about human rights you might rethink your stand on China. If we didn't care about our environment today and the next generation, and what they inherit for their environment. We would be pretty Damn selfish by destroying the benefits we were given with regard to a safe and healthy environment.
