Switched from my iPhone 5 to a blackberry z10 on Verizon initially.
What a disaster. The blackberry was horrible. Verizon models plagued with issues.
Contract ended on the line that had the 5.

Signed up for a new contract with AT&T for the One.
I'm super excited. Waiting for it in the mail is KILLING ME.

Welcome to Android. Read up as much as you can while you wait. Learn what can be done then decide what YOU want your phone to be. My best word of advice is to clear your expectations and just learn android like it's your first phone. There are many here to answer just about any questions you may have. Good luck.
