Magnetic Dash Mounts vs Note 8

I've been using a magnetic dash mount for my Note 4 for like 2 years with no problem, but I've been hesitant so far to try with my Note 8 since it is a bigger/heavier phone.

Here's what I use for my v20 in an incipio dual pro case. This makes for a heavy combo but it holds just fine.

CD mounts aren't an option for me since I have an aftermarket unit with no cd player, but that doesn't appear to be a drastically different mount than mine.

How does the weight of your phone compare to a Note 8?

I believe they make the same mount that sticks in the air vents as well. Feels really similar to my brother's note 8/case combo to the point that i can't tell the difference.

I have this one. I played around a bit with the location on the plate on the back of the phone/case to be sure it wouldn't interfere with the wireless charging. I found that if it's mounted near the bottom it would not be an issue.

This holds just fine. The surface that the mount is secured to is horizontal so I can't commit on how it might hold up otherwise. I do have the phone vertical when connected to the mount.

I use a similar mount with no issues at all very strong magnet. This is my first magnet mount and would never get anything else.

Air vent mounts are likely a no go as well due to the way that my vents are designed. I've tried vent mounts before and they don't fit. I can't even get any of those vent mounted air fresheners to attach to it.

I know you don't have a CD player but they have other options as well. I can say that the magnet is VERY strong. My setup is my N8 in a Caseology Parallax series case with the metal plate in between my case and phone about 1/3 of the way up from bottom of phone. I have no issues whatsoever with wireless charging. You just have to find the sweet spot for the metal plate so it won't interfere with wireless charging.

I haven't tried on the Note 8 but on the s8 I couldn't get any of them to not interfere. Maybe the Note 8 is long enough.

Could be but I never had issues with magnetic mounts and wireless charging with my S7E either. Can't speak for the S8 though as I've never owned.

I've got the Dashio magnetic mount and put the metal plate on the back of my case and it definitely messes with the wireless charger, unfortunately.

I began using the CD/magnetic type mount several years ago. It worked pretty well except for the fact that I damaged my CD player by over tightening the adjustable prongs that held in place. I had wanted to eliminate the wobble, but overtightening didn't really help that and now I can't use my CD player. OTOH, I have found that the magnetic mount was a useful idea. Of course, I found that the metal plate in the case prevented the use of a wireless charger. Taking the case off was not a option.

I did find a magnetic vent mount that worked well for me, but still there was the same problem with wireless charging.

I just purchased what I feel is the solution. The Jelly Fish Square Vent mount seems to have solved the problem. No magnet and it holds tightly enough to feel secure.

Yay! Now I can use the wireless charging stand that I bought ages ago for my Note 5, if I can find it...

The only thing I have found with Magnetic mounts, is the plate that you put behind the phone, interferes with wireless charging, at least it did for me.

Not out just yet for N8, but does anyone have experience with other phones??

I use the imagnet mount (Amazon) & it's been great! Been using it with my Note 4, 5 & now 8. So far, its held great with 1 magnet on the back of my "car case" which is placed slightly lower than dead center.

Yes I had the Mophie and car mount for the s8 and the car mount was fantastic and very convenient
