Using the stock mail app. Suddenly I can no longer send mail. When I hit the body of the new email I get a warning that mail app has stopped with a choice of restart. This happens every time.
I have 3 accounts and same result with every one. Just started yesterday. Was working fine after oreo. I receive mail fine.

Same here. Cleared the app cache, no change. It seems like it started within the last day or 2.
There have been some app updates for google stuff but I haven't updated any 3rd party ( HTC or otherwise ).
I also noticed some brief notifications about charging. I left my phone with the charger overnight and gained only 5% from 61%
I powered the phone off and it quick charged within an hour.
Strange.

This happened a few years back. The prior solution was to force stop Android System Webview. I just went to that app & it is marked Disabled. Can anyone confirm the same? Might be the same problem again. I tried to enable it but nothing happens.

Yes, Android system webview is disabled. The Force stop and enable buttons are active and force stop 'worked' but enable does nothing.

Just found this:
Hi, there is a working solution on another thread.... https://forums.androidcentral.com/a...s-htc-mail-app-keep-crashing.html#post6189572.
It appears that an update to Google Chrome has caused the hic-cup. One needs to uninstall the Chrome updates. Best to reboot phone. Then it should be back to normal service. Depending on how you have the Play Store setup.... You may need to change settings in Play Store so as not to do Auto Updates. Otherwise Chrome gets updated again and then the Mail crashes again.

Hmmmmm. Now gmail crashes the same way.
I guess you can have one or the other, but not both.
Until another update comes out that fixes things
