the phone was not really used but this occurred. The previous day i did use the Bluetooth in the car. I forgot to get times on the Bluetooth and screen but it was super low.

There have been some apps (like GasBuddy, Valentine1, etc) that one wouldn't imagine would use BT but they do and several of them do it badly.

I'd look into which apps have BT access and start there. The app, Aspotcat, might help identify which apps have that permission.

Gas buddy was draining my phone bad too... Uninstalled it a long time ago

Isn't the real issue that his battery discharged from 100% to 47% but the percentages in the battery stats don't come anywhere close to accounting for that drain?

I have this issue occasionally on my Nexus 5 (not X) on stock MM. I can go a week sometimes with all the percentages adding up to the total (very reasonable) battery drain and then BAM.... I'll jump from 0.4%/hour standby to 4-5%/hour with no accompanying increase in the individual percentages. Rebooting always cures it temporarily.

It seems to be triggered by transitions from WiFi to cell data and them back. But not always. I am near certain that it is not a rogue app since I only have a few very ordinary and mature apps installed. I've been trying to get Google's attention, but they seem to be ignoring the issue.

Note that I loaded KK 4.4.4 a while back and it did the same thing, as did my Moto X (2013) on 4.4.4 and 5.1 before I switched to the Nexus 5.

I have not experienced this at all with the 5X.

You can be certain that it isn't a rogue app if you run in Safe Mode and do NOT open any 3rd party apps (if it is even possible...some phones you can open apps manually but they won't load at startup as they would if starting in normal mode)

Well, that is certainly good news. If Android N never makes it to the Nexus 5, I may eventually end up with a 5X even though I like the 5 better (smaller and includes wireless charging).

This was on a 5x. Hasn't happened again since removing gasbuddy but I also haven't used Bluetooth.
