Major battery draining

Recently I've been having some major battery draining issues. Yesterday I was down to yellow in 12 hours with minimal texting and browsing and virtually no app use. It says my phone usage accounts for about 73% of my battery drain. Today I made 3 phone calls for a total of 55 minutes and the phones been off ever since then and I'm down to 60%.

Can anyone offer me up some battery saving suggestions? I updated PRL as suggested in another thread, so I can try that for a few days and see where it goes

1. make sure you dont have bluetooth, 4G, WIFI, and any other type of connection open when your not using them.
2. put your screen brightness to automatic rather then the lowest setting.
3. turn the touch captive buttons (home, menu, back and search buttons at bottom of phone) off.
4. put the screen to turn off at 30 or less seconds.
5. make sure you dont have a 3rd party task manager on your phone (they are said to drain the battery)
6. keep the power saving mond on AT ALL TIMES. (this one might help)

I do these on my phone and I get about a whole day with light use. I hope this helped.

I've also been having the same issues. Been coinciding with suddenly crappy service at my house, which I've made a thread about.

I don't get it. Today I unplugged my phone, went out for Father's Day dinner.....I was out of battery in 4 hours. No 4G on, no wi-fi radio since I wasn't around a network, a couple texts, couple tweets, and that's about it. Nonsense.

Up until a couple weeks ago when the service at my house tanked, I would get 20-24 hours of use before the battery got down to like, 20%.

I strongly disagree with #2. The brighter the screen is the faster you battery will drain. I keep my screen brightness much lower than automatic brightness does. And I only turn it up when using my phone in direct sunlight.

Anyway, the lower the brightness setting the better the battery life will be. You can set it to be much lower than the auto brightness setting.

Same here, I haven't made any setting changes. But my battery life is at least half of what it was a week ago. Yesterday afternoon it went from 89% to 45% in 2 hours, I was in the living room with my home Wi-Fi and AiRave signals, both should have been reasonably strong, and the phone was in my pocket the whole time.

I logged into Android Centrol to order a replacement battery figuring my battery had gone bad and decided to check the forumns while I was here. (Tapatalk stopped working a couple of weeks ago, so I don't keep up with the forumns like before.) I saw this thread. Maybe I'll hold off on the battery for awhile.

Anyone have any idea what happened to cause so many batteries to suddenly start draining so quickly?

My phone has been having the same issues, my battery is draining really fast for some reason. This has just started happening in the past few days. I would have to say Sprint has done something with the network or to our phones. Hopefully someone will figure out what's going on !

Well I have mine on automatic and I have really good battery life on mine.

So is it even worth calling in about this or the service issues? Have you guys seen a drastic change in reception too?

I have also noticed bad reception. The only thing is the areas that I have bad reception I would get no service now and the areas that I had good service in I would have amazing service. Yea it sounds weird but I have noticed it with my Evo 3D.

What could it possibly be that so many of us from across the country are experiencing the same issues? Solar flares or something? LOL.

I have been having the same issues. I used to get a full day, sun up - sun down. Now I get about 8.5 - 9 hrs and its at 10% with little use. Glad to hear it is not just me, but others as well. I was thinking I might have downloaded a battery hogging app.

I have to agree with jean15paul - IF you are ok with lower than automatic brightness setting (it is fine for me indoors), you can improve your battery life by lowering it from automatic. It is not going to increase it by 3 hours or so, but based on empirical tests, I noticed an average of 20-30 minutes of increased time (display on time of course)

Back to op - I had noticed that problem (3 times in a week) recently with my 3D as well - but looking at battery usage details, it looked like my awake time had suddenly shot up. Might have been some app misbehaving - but I wasn't able to figure it out. I rebooted the phone, recharged and the problem hasn't occurred since then.

Well today my battery lasted me just over 7 hrs. with NO use (except one reboot right off the charger). In fact it never downloaded any email, when I would turn on the screen to check the time it would say weather was unavailable..
not sure whats going on with sprint, but hopefully it doesn't last to long.

My reception at home is bad also. Not just on my 3D but also on my Photon. My data speeds are slow, even with WiFi. It must be the Network.

One of the towers in your area might not be working. I just call sprint and tell them and within a week my service will be better.

Reception here has been pretty bad for a few days here too. Not really sure about battery life as I've been using my phones a lot. I have 3 phones, the 3D, the 4G and a boostberry and I've been catching the EVOs with literally 0 bars where they usually have 4-6 and the boostberry on 1X rather than the 1XEV... One thing I noticed is it seems its the worst at around noon-5pm. This is weird

I was just on a 2 day trip away from home and I was paranoid about battery drain.
I put the phone into power saver mode and what a difference! I had plenty of juice left. I'm not sure what PS does, but it works!
