Major Issues After Update

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

I completely agree, I'm trying to figure out if anyone who was unrooted is having problems. It's just hard to tell with the flurry of comments.

From what I've gathered reading through forms is that rooted with MotoRoot can take the update even if they stay rooted (meaning they dont have to click "Unroot" button in the MotoRoot app). Ones rooted with PawnMyMoto have to flash the stock recovery before the update.

But, that's just my guess and yes, I agree, indication of the root status of your phone would greatly help in understanding the real issues and possible solutions.

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

I was rooted with MotoRoot. I did unroot first, then applied the update. After that I used Motoroot to root once again. I have not experienced any problems.

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

So you're blaming someone else for your out of line response? Yeah, that's not gonna fly. If you don't like a thread, a post, or can't respond in a civil manner skip over it.

yea i don't understand why people don't get that. seems common sense to me, isn't it?

Yes, I never rooted and I am having the recent app button issue and my blue tooth is not working right with my car now after the update.

All in all the update is better. Moto is looking into the the app switching button issue.

Is square working for you? I have not read through many posts today. Hoping you are happy with the update.

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

I do wish these would start with: I rooted....OR, I've not rooted. I wonder how many problems here are rooted phones that don't like updating, surprise...but I sure can't tell glancing thru them.

Those discussions were talked about in the Moto Forums if you have the private link. They had specific threads just dedicated for rooted user issues and unrooted user issues.

Is it that hard to unroot update then reroot. Seems like amateur hour here

just applied it. Unroot with MotoRoot, reboot, install, reboot, Good to go. 15 minutes so far and no major issues. I do see the recent app button bug. Actually seems a little worse than before but its a minor annoyance. Homebase on the other hand was farking annoying. Thankfully it can be removed. Installed root in the first place to remove the hotspot entitlement and it appears to have stayed after the update.

No issues here after update. Same battery life. Not rooted before or after.

Hello I just registered here because I just got the update two days ago. My phone will no longer hold 4g in my home or work. It used to be a solid signal about 20-30mbs now its about 5mbs or just 3g in home or work.

My phone also times out screen in like 5 seconds no matter what time is set. What can I try? Already factory reset phone never rooted droid maxx. Thanks.

See I'm having the opposite experience. After the update I started to see 4G at my house. I live in a rural area, & I assumed they just added LTE to one of the nearby towers, but the CSR said it's been awhile since they upgraded one in my area. Coming from an S3 I knew I'd probably see an increase in reception, but after the update I'm finally seeing a 4G signal here, albeit a low one. There's one more tower in my area left to be upgraded, so hoping that increases the signal level.

So I just got a certified replacement because a sim card did nothing for my signal and the black screen issue.

The replacement phone has the 12.7.7 still and I have a much better LTE signal as before enjoying LTE at home and work again.

Afraid to update this one. Is there a way to stop the update nagging.

I'm in the debate of getting a replacement too but not sure. It came with the stock update right and you haven't had any of the common issues after the update?

Yea its got the stock version the way mine was before the update. Its been working great no issues that the updated phone was giving me.

Got the Maxx last thursday. Pulled the update day 1. no issues. Rooted and xposed, will return to stock before accepting the 4.4 ota whenever it drops.

Came from the Galaxy Nexus, so i was used to the google now ring, Though i wish i could find an xposed module to add shortcuts to the navigation ring. Miss that feature of AOKP roms
