Major security flaw lets anyone bypass AT&T SGS2 Lock Screen

I would have to say that I am amazed how this got looked over but I am not concerned. I do not let my phone leave my sight ever.

I guess it has something to do with the AT&T customizations as this isn't a problem on this phone with other vendors; so I'm betting on a quick fix from AT&T. I'm still grabbing my SG2 when it comes out...

Hey guys,

No worries..samsung just released this statement..i guess we can use this as a temporary fix. Super excited about this phone...i am not going to change my mind.:)

UPDATE: Samsung issued the following statement in regards to the bug:

Samsung and AT&T are aware of the user interface issue on the Galaxy S II with AT&T. Currently, when using a security screen lock on the device, the default setting is for a screen timeout. If a user presses the power button on the device after the timeout period it will always require a password. If a user presses the power button on the phone before the timeout period, the device requests a password ? but the password is not actually necessary to unlock it.

Samsung and AT&T are investigating a permanent solution. In the meantime, owners of the Galaxy S II can remedy the situation by re-setting their time-out screen to the ?immediately? setting. This is done by going to the Settings ->Location and Security->Screen unlock settings->Timeout->Immediately.

I have the "No Lock" app because I use my phone so much the lock just takes extra time. Plus it takes holding the phone with both hands for me to unlock. I like instant access! No BFD for me.

I have never once used a lock on any of my android phones. It's either on me somewhere , in my car, house or pocket.

Just don't loose the darn thing.

I use the lock on every smartphone I've had, partly because I have young kids and partly for a second line of defense (first line being not losing physically). Lately I would have had to have the lock whether I wanted it or not due to enterprise security requirements.
