I understand how she feels. I really liked my Galaxy S5, and liked it even better with the update to Marshmallow. However, I knew that was the last OS update it would be getting, and I was sick and tired of carrier branded phones, and fed up with all the carrier bloat, not to mention all the Samsung apps I didn't want or need, all of which could be disabled but not removed. .I would love to get my wife a Pixel. But she's addicted to her dying Galaxy S5. I can only do what I can do.
One of the big differences I noticed right away was the Pixel XL's lack of camera lag. When I would take a picture with the S5, there was always considerable lag, which was quite the annoyance when I had the "perfect" shot lined up and lost it because of the lag time. The other thing is how quickly apps open in the Pixel versus the S5... amazing difference.
