Make phone screen brighter

I have been noticing that my phone isn't as bright as I would like it. I just went into the settings and it says "unable to increase brightness due to phone temperature" ( pic attached) . Is there a way to bypass this and force the phone to increase brightness past 80%? Whenever I'm outside and in the sun the screen isn't as bright as my old gs5 and I'm thinking it's because the sun warms the phone which leads to it capping at 80%.

Note: the phone is slightly warm to the touch but not even close to the hottest I have felt it. I wouldn't even really consider this temperature hot.

Have you installed GSam? I'd be interested to know what temperature your phone is at (GSam measures battery temperature; there's also CPUZ that measures the temperature of multiple places of your phone, but that's probably overkill.)

My best suggestion is that you install Lux (the free version should do fine) -- Check out this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/543334-just-purchased-lux-help-screen-brightness.html or read about that thread in the Common Issues and Solutions sticky: http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/544443-common-issues-solutions.html

Using Lux I have never had my phone tell me it couldn't go any brighter because of heat. I can't guarantee that it will fix your problem, but it's a good first step (that, and installing GSam for the purpose of diagnosis.)

Lux is nice but chews up battery a bit and ALWAYS crashes multiple times upon reboot for me. Was using it for a few weeks but did an uninstall just the other day.

That seems odd. I have never seen Lux on my list for battery consumption and it hasn't crashed once.

I've never seen it on battery list either but I think it shows itself via draining Google play services or something. Maybe I'm wrong; would be nice to know. Def seemed to be a knock on battery life whether I have physical evidence via the battery settings or not.

Tried fiddling with any of the settings I could too and still ALWAYS got crashes after reboot. Wondering if maybe something I debloated (just used standard debloat list on XDA) is causing this perhaps.

Yeah, something you debloated could certainly be the issue.
