Making different download folders?

I'm not very tech savvy, so I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I download a lot of recipes, knitting patterns, etc. from the internet and am wondering if there is a way to create different folders that they can be downloaded into directly. It seems like there should be a way to do this, but it's beyond me how to do it. Thanks.

File management is not androids strong suit.

This is how I do it. I download the file. Go to file and choose it and then share it to Google drive where I have folders created . The files are ready for me at home on my PC or on my phone. Drive has a nice widget for phone access. You can even scan receipts or recipes from the widgets menu. It uses phones autofocus camera.

Some alternate browsers will let you choose the download location. Opera mobile (well at least the old version I use) does/did...

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping for something a little more straight forward but maybe it's not possible.
