Making international calls

Is there a setting I'm missing? I'm in Costa Rica and when I call back to the states I keep getting an error message. The number will be setup like so.... (222)222-2222. If I use my iPhone no problem but my ssung wants me to use +1 222—222—2222. Didn't know if I'm missing something.

International calling depends mostly on the carrier/country you're in and how they handle roaming devices. If you're roaming on a carrier/plan that supports certain countries as 'local' calls, for instance, chances are you don't need the country code to call the US. Same if you're using WiFi calling for most carriers.
