Malware affecting NEWER phones including S22 variants...

That article sounded more like a scare tactic than informative news. In terms of Android, the least they could've done is explain how the malware first gets into the device. My guess is it has to arrive in the form of an app, which you should be protected from unless you are involved in shady practices in the first place.

In the very last paragraph it mentions only downloading apps from trusted sources/developers. I hate when articles don't mention that until the very end, and act like it's not that important.

There isn't any known malware yet.
