Managing heads up notifications

I've been hearing a lot that the heads up notifications are more of a pain than useful. I haven't used the lollipop preview at all so I wouldn't know. A lot of people are saying that heads up notification pops up for everything and is really annoying. Is their any way to manage which apps you want to pop up and which ones to have normal notifications in the pull down shade?

How? The only options I've seen are to have all or none.
