Mandatory voicemail update?

Firstly I am sorry if this is a repost, I am posting via Tapatalk as I'm on vacation and don't have access to a computer.

OK moving on, I've had a very annoying notification in my top bar for a few days now from the vm app. It says 'mandatory voicemail update is now available ' so I click it and it says downloading and all that jazz, then the install screen comes up and I hit install. But then it says 'application not installed' and the stupid notification just stays up there forever. How can I get rid of it or get the update to install?? Rom and kernel in my sig.
