Manually enter APN Settings?

Does anyone know a way to edit the APN settings on the watch? I'm trying to use a SIM card from Ting. I am able to text and call but the data is always disconnected. The APN settings are not correct but I can't find a way to edit them.

Doesn't seem to have any way mostly due to the fact Google doesn't believe AW should have a keyboard. So, whenever you need a keyboard input, it is likely that you will be prompted to enter on your phone.

Your best bet is ask your carrier to fix the SIM card or network auto-configuration on the carrier side.

Any advice on how to get the correct APN settings when activating on H20? I used a smart sim to activate service but no luck. The APN says "ATT Phone" and the network is always in a disconnected state. I can receive texts and call but no data. I'm not an ATT customer so I was trying to use an alternative provider. I like the watch but looks like I may be returning on Monday.

Nothing you can do to change it (no manual APN setttings AFAIK) I'm afraid. Usually, the carrier is the one responsible to properly configure all the necessary configuration on the SIM card. Sometime, you can call them to push down some network settings via carrier cell network. But all have to be done from the carrier side. You should call your carrier to ask about it.

Yeah I didn't have much hope. I tried with Ting first and they said there is nothing they could do. I don't think H20 would be any different. My 14 days ends early next week so I guess it's going back. Thanks.

I was thinking: if you have any friends with ATT, and used their sim card to put in your watch, then swapped with yours, maybe the apn settings would carry over in the absence of any new ones? I don't even know if they are the same settings, but it's worth a try?

What card are you currently using: Ting or H2O?

Also, have you tried calling their customer support while the card was in the watch, so they could try and push the settings?

These are all long shots, I know....

I am currently using H20. I called ting and they said they couldn't push the settings from their side. H20 would probably be the same. The one time I called them the customer service wasn't the best.

When I activated the H20 card the APN settings did change. They are currently listed as "ATT Phone" in the watch and they may be correct if I was using ATT service but the settings for H20 are different than ATT (even though it's the same network). I'm hoping there will be a fix sometime so I could eventually change the settings manually. I'm not too worried about data since I can still make calls and receive texts but I would like to have the ability to reply to texts. Without "ok Google" that currently doesn't work. I tried a couple of texting apps for wear that have keyboards or set phrases to respond to texts but they all require the watch be connected to the phone. None of them were accessing the watch's texts but were trying to respond to the phones (if that makes since). Thanks for advice. Maybe someday it will be fixed.

Hello...

You just check out your mobile phone network connection for APN setting.

What do you mean? I know what the settings should be. There just isn't a way to manually change them in the watch. Is that what you meant?

Someone on the thread about this watch being cancelled said they use "Wear Messenger" for AW which has a built in keyboard. Not sure of you tried that one already... I still don't know what provider to get for my watch, so I am still using it sim-less for now.

Yeah I tried Wear Messenger and 'Coffee - SMS on Android Wear'. When I tried to text on both in standalone mode got an error message that phone wasn't connected. WM had a tiny keyboard that's hard to use. I liked the Coffee app because it had a lot of canned responses you could use without using a keyboard and I believe you can customize the responses. If it could use the watch number in standalone mode I'd probably use that one since I don't currently have data access thus no 'ok google'.

For my purposes (emergency phone during runs without packing my phone along) H20 isn't too bad. It's on the ATT network and I'm on a pay as you go plan. $10 credit lasts 90 days and it's 5c per minute or text and 10c per megabyte. Since I don't have megabytes (no data) 200 minutes/texts should be plenty.

I saw somewhere that someone is using a Truephone SIM for service. I don't know much about that one and wonder if it would correctly set the APN when activated.

I suspect that the next phone Wear App update will add a way to change APN settings. Just can't imagine it won't...

I am also wanting to change my APN, has anyone confirmed it works on AT&T, I read some were having issues but not sure if thats related or not.
I am going to call T-Mobile to see if they have a way to push APN, but somehow I doubt it.

Anyone out there? I haven't seen any activity in the forums for this watch in a while. I've been using it daily and it has worked great for me. I've been accurately tracking runs with GPS using Endomondo and Ghostracer in standalone mode. Now that I am using a Truphone SIM I am paired through cell data and I'm able to send/receive texts through my phone's number even when the phone is left at home and receive all notifications for email etc. I had previously tried 2 other prepaid SIMs and I could make calls and text but couldn't receive data because the APN settings were off. With Truphone I can make calls and receive data, BUT I can't text from my watch's number, only from my phone number when paired. It appears the Service Center Address may need to be edited to get SMS working. I know it's a long shot, but anybody know if editing this setting is possible in AW?

How's the watching been working for everyone? Not much feedback since the sales have been cancelled. I don't know what the 'hardware issue' is but the watch has been great for me so far and the battery life has been amazing.

Funny, I was wondering about the same and opened a new thread about this. I think today marks the sad day 2 months ago that LG announced it would take the watch off the market. I am still wondering why, and I'm so glad I did not return mine. I love it so much it's crazy!

Nothing to complain. Everything works as it should. Google Fit gets updated couple times and works better now. Ironically, the LG Health Step counts no longer works but I don't use it anyway.

Ugh I wish there was a way to change the APN, I got a freedompop gsm sim card, its free service, gives you 200mb and some amount of texts and calls (although I dont think the calling and texting will work since it needs an app to go along with it) but that plan would be perfect for me since I only really need data for a watch and 200mb would be plenty since I wouldnt use it that often without my phone nearby. Hopefully android wear 2.0 adds this feature :/
