It seems that just about everyone who ported a GV number they have had for a while to Project Fi is unable to send SMS texts to Verizon or AT&T users.

Is anyone here having these kinds of issues?

I ported my number over a week ago and still cannot send texts to these non-T-Mobile users. Receiving texts seems to work fine. After several calls to support, it seems that this is a serious issue with no fix as of yet.

Check out the Project Fi Subreddit for more information.

Funny, I was just about to start a thread expressing my disappointment in regard to the same issue you're having. I activated on Fi (8) days ago and I still cannot send text to Sprint or Att numbers (only ones I have tried). I have been in contact with support both via phone and email. My intention was to try the service for a month before I port my Sprint number over.

I may have them give me a new number (non-GV) to see how it goes.

Yes, I am thinking of just porting my T-Mobile number over and seeing if they can port my GV number back to secondary Google account, then forward from there... It's unfortunate that it works this way. Had I known, I would have done it that way to begin with,

Well I got the new number. Text can now be receive from the 5X. Only thing is I neglected to tell the rep the specific area code I wanted, so I'm waiting for a new new number to push thru

I had the same issue porting a GV number. I have up and finally cancelled. But for those of you sticking it out, a few tips. YMMV but in my case I found out I could still send MMS messages.

I also found out that I could still send SMS if I used the GV app to do it. Annoying, but worked in a pinch.

I ported in a GV number to my 5x and FI the day it arrived... No issues texting anyone on any network?
