Map icon on Samsung

Hello
I have a Samsung Galaxy Mini with a Maps icon on the screen.
When I tap in it, a map comes up with my locality displayed.
How does it know where I am and how can I prevent it from knowing where I am?

Yes, you can disable location setting. Settings... Connections... Location setting...

You can also go to application... More... App permissions where you can pick which app can access location...
