March 2023 security Patch

I agree, criticism, ideally in a foward-moving/constructive manner is always good (which could easily include huge community threads that go viral or similar, IMHO).

My comments were solely about the cadence of the update release.
Yeah, I think it's a great phone, by most aspects, honestly I wouldn't ask for much more, other than perhaps the zoom lens from the 22/23U, perhaps there's a bit of envy there... ;)
Not saying it's a perfect phone, with no room for improvement, some of it from s/w.

Truly though, I don't get the angst of a few days late security patch, be it a new/fixed feature drop as well, or just the compromise fixes. Maybe it's because I worked on the other side of the OS fence for quite a few years, I've felt the pain, trust me :-X

except it's not a few days. The other month was delayed a month for many. Previous updates have been way more than a few days late.

The big thing to me is it is a security patch. A security patch means there is an exploit out there now, so every day I don't have that patch, my phone is vulnerable. So delaying it a week, two weeks, or a month, is just bad. Second it just reflects poorly on a company to promise your phone will be kept updated with a security every first monday of the month, and then consistently be late and not communicate about it well. The timely security patches are a feature of the phone - it's a selling point. So it's just misleading.

Not seeing it on my pixel 7 but I am on the beta so I suppose that's the reason why.

I ran my 3XL for almost a year with no security patches and the phone didn't burst into flames and melt my savings down to nothing. Lucky, I guess

I was on the feature drop beta and unenrolled, as Google suggested, if I didn't want to be in the next beta. Has anyone else done this and received the stable public version yet?

Just curious, do you have a list of some sort, the features or issues?

I'm always interested in all sides of this issue, having chased a whole variety of customer s/w (and some h/w integrations) things around a lot of ways...

My biggest issue with the pixel is the just kind of mid hardware choices sometimes. For example, the fps could be way better than what it is. It's very finicky, no matter how much you re add fingerprints. The battery life is very mehh. For a 5000mah pack you would expect more. However I'm willing to blame the exynos modem for probably being inefficient.

The thing I absolutely love is the call screen feature. I'm willing to put up with some shortcomings for that feature. I get maybe 1 spam call a week that will break through the assistant led call screen. That makes it worth it, at least to me. Sometimes I never even check my phone app, and I see all the missed calls, and they are all spam. It's pretty cool.

SN: Looks like the update has arrived today!

No beta , regular monthly update

I opted out of the beta, ignored the downgrade updates as instructed by Google, and am now downloading a 6.14mb security update. Not sure if I have a large update still coming, or if I got most of your 459mb via the quarterly beta. Time will tell, I guess.

Should of did the downgrade but we see what happens

Downloading now, P7 on Verizon.

I don't get too wrapped up in when these arrive, first Monday of the month is great. Next day is OK too. Second Monday of the month is just fine also. They are just security patches & updates. I enjoy the updates as much as the next person, but don't get all excited if it's not happening exactly on the first Monday.
