Having watched this for a while, it would appear that, at least in Canada, Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) users can look forward to getting their Google Android updates immediately upon release, while users of the major carriers will wait a while to get them.
As a for instance, I am currently using an MVNO called PhoneBox. PhoneBox buys and resells Rogers Wireless (major carrier) for a cheaper price than Rogers charges and even provides Rogers SIMs, so, my P8P shows Rogers as my provider. I received my update on March 4th.
rvbfan, who uses another MVNO called Koodo, also received the update on the 4th (when I was also using Koodo, I was always among the first to receive Android updates). Koodo is owned by Telus Communications (major carrier) in Canada but acts as an MVNO.
B1aze uses Rogers (major carrier), and didn't get his update until the 11th - a full week later than MVNO users,
rvbfan and myself.
Although there are both advantages (significantly cheaper) and disadvantages (sometimes missing some services and perks provided by major telcos) to getting your wireless services from an MVNO, it appears that another MVNO advantage some might want to consider in Canada is getting Android updates as soon as they are available (if that is something important to you).
