Marshmallow update?

It's now July and there's no sign of the update here in NYC

Your lucky s2 9.7 here in the UK running 5.0.2 and February's security update mine is going back tomorrow £350 far too much should be 100 quid less, don't get me wrong love the slate but overpriced considering the lack of any updates here in the UK...

I got my marshmallow updates automatically on my Galaxy S2 9.7 yesterday here in Southern California. Now 6.0.1. NO problems so far.

Sent from my Galaxy Tab S2 9.7

for everyone that is complaining that they need(ed) to wait for the update

this is for a good cause
since the initial release many non official hot fixes have been applied

idea is not to roll it out to VIP first but to test it on low end markets ..

should be obvious ..

(are you going to give new medicine to top executives or beta test in low end?)

Sorry but I disagree.

This is their top end tablet. I have Lg, Sony and Google devices and all now have marshmallow running reliably. Samsung need to step up.

Country and model please. Is the Nook version or non-Nook version? Hardware wise they are identical, it's the software that is different.

Sorry about that. I thought the country shows up automatically. I'm in the USA. This is the non-Nook version. Model is SM-T710.

Uh, my S2 Nook version shows a model number of SM-T710.

Whoops, answered my own question, or at least gernerttl did:

My actual model# is: SM-T710NZKEBNN

The non-Nook is: SM-T710NZWEXAR

Yeah. The only way I could tell there was a separate model# was checking Samsung's website.

Battery life has supposedly been improved. That's what I'm looking forward to.

S2 8.0 (t1710)
It's a disgrace to not have wifi only devices swept with update signal from coast to coast.
I can't speak for foreign procedure but the US should be complete.
I do not post from hard proof but I must think that more units are sold in the US than even China. They don't know what to spend their money on lately.
Samsung is making themselves look bad. Get it done asap.
Maybe you'll sell more tablets before turning out S3

I have the s2 Nook version. I have been checking every few days and nothing yet. I live in Pennsylvania.

Same here in Hawaii. No joy. It seems the WiFi version OTA is hit or miss. The non-Nook versions here in Hawaii haven't been updated yet either. It seems the LTE versions are getting updated more reliably, but that is because the carriers are responsible.

P.S. I'm a Pennsylvania boy transplanted to Hawaii. :)

My wife's Tab S2 9.7 AT&T variant is downloading the Marshmallow update now.

That's great. It's a Verizon network thingy. I just don't understand why wifi only devices are not receiving OTA now. Networks are taking care of themselves. Nice perk. Samsung has no reason why the wifi only units they sell are left unaware of anything .
Samsung, I know you read thru these forums.
It's time to get off the seat of your pants and push this out. We were told Feb or March. Lol

I don't completely understand either. I can only surmise that it is a technical problem that is being exacerbated by the sheer number of devices. The carriers have an easier time because they have less actual devices to update. Each carrier has, at most, just a few million total of both the 9.7 and 8.0 models, to update; and they are all generally geographically in the same areas. Samsung has several million devices spread out globally, and has more model variants to support and update.

Still awaiting marshmallow here in the UK for my Tab s2 9.7 wifi.

Am still on Android 5.0.2, hav contacted Samsung about the update and they asure me it's coming but I am beginning to wonder of they have decided to abandon a load of customers now they want to sell a new device.

I have contacted samsung support a couple of times and combined with lack of updates I am yet to be impressed.

Yes Samsung reps sound very odd when they say they don't know of a software change. This call I made minutes ago to samsung usa only has me more unsure. The guy stated he never heard of a device changing its os. ..? WHAT .?
He said usually you use the os your device comes with.
He would not let me educate him as to the rumors and the articles speaking to changes thousands of S2 owners are receiving OTA as we speak.
Quite possible they are slashing certain customers as one insightful poster here has stated to be possible.
I find no new articles above their older ones that promises that the 3 versions ( mine being t-1710 ) are slated officialy for the 6.0 update. (Marshmallow)
I guess I wait. They did try to sell me a 48 DOLLAR subscription to go in my device and check for something this particular rep never heard of. They have done that for me free in the past 6 months. From now on I just enjoy this tablet and wait.
It's a minor thing this update but all the unknowing feedback causes me to be thankfully this S2 is my only Samsung device I own except a smart tv. I will add to my apples products in the future.
I now have wifi only devices a couple of hundred miles away confirming downloads and as far way as the west coast. I am city limits New York .
