I swear by GroupMe! I personally use Handcent as my SMS of choice, and I didn't want to use Chomp (tried both originally, and just leaned towards Handcent). Handcent might have group messaging built in, but I've gotten used to GroupMe and it works. And it's easily. Worth a look see.
