Mate 9, EMUI 8.0, not adding icon to home screen

This has been like this since I updated to EMUI 8.0.
Everytime I install a new app, the phone won't add an icon to the home screen. (I use the default launcher with app drawer mode. It used to add icons to the home screen even in this mode)
There's also no option in the Play Store to change that anymore.
Is that a feature from EMUI 8.0 that can't be changed anymore or am I missing something?

Strange. I don't have this issue. For every new app I download, a shortcut is plopped down on my main homescreen - unless there is no room (you might double check if there is space available). I've looked for any settings that might cause this to be different, but couldn't find anything. Maybe someone else will know.

It's a feature that's been removed from Android 8.0 Oreo not just EMUI. Before there was an option in the PlayStore settings but they removed that and moved it to Google's own Pixel Launcher settings.

Some 3rd party launchers still do it. I know Nova does but the stock launcher and Microsoft Launcher which I use doesn't.
