For those of you with non-white phones -- is the trim rubber like?

I've read it described as a "matte rubber" and the videos I saw often said it had a grip to it. I didn't get that impression in the stores...but maybe that's because I only touched live white model and the rest of the colors were all dummy models that may not have used the final build quality materials.

Do you with colors know how your phones compare to the dummy models trim build?

I have a white one but may reconsider if the other phones have more grip.

While the white has a glossy plastic, the other colors have more a matte and slightly rubber feeling. it's definitely noticeable if you compare the two materials. I love the rubbery feeling.
You should definitely check it out in person to be sure.

Do you know if the texture of the colored dummy models is accurate to the real thing? Maybe someone at the tmo store has purchased a colored version for themselves and I can touch it.. They don't seem able to open new boxes just to "see" it. I do like the white, and I like how the battery door is lighter and gives off more of a "metal/steel" look.. But I didn't get a chance to hold an operating device in another color to see if build quality was similar to the dummys...or if they simply painted a cheaper material for the dummy versions just to show the color.

i think it's the same material but it felt different in my hand because of the weight of the live phone. luckily, the worker there was using the plum one and i was able to get a feel for it.
i'm not sure if the difference is noticeable between the dummy and live phones, sorry =(.
but if you are happy with the white, i think it is a minor issue

I had the white one for a week and just recently exchanged it for the black color.
They white one had wifi connectivity issues meaning it wouldn't connect. So, I sent it back for the black one. My wife has the purple one as well. Yes, it is a matte rubbery feel to it. The white one was a smooth plastic. White vs. colors is a different feel.

I love white phones, but the white here just looked cheapear in shiny plastic, IMO. Plus, I had a white G1 previously that chipped all over the place... I would hate for my brand new mytouch 4G to do the same. I was too worried about that to take the risk so I went out on a limb and grabbed the plum! Couldn't be happier!

Yea I couldn't decide what would hide and scratches better, white or the colors. I was mainly debating between white and black and I felt like the black looked cheaper - it just gave off that silicone skin look which IMO made the phone cheaper looking. That was just my opinion of the black one - I think plum looked awesome.

I have the plum one as well & it looks great. It gives the unit a hint of color without being too gaudy. It's funny, the color really looks like it belongs on the phone. It does definitely have a grippy feel to it. I can tell the difference when I run my finger over the battery door & then onto the rubbery part.

The part of the phone that's really showing dings is the damn bezel!!! I baby my phone like crazy & I already have like 3 dings on the bezel! WTH???
