Maxx hd vs gs3?

I find it funny that there is a thread in the Razr Maxx forum putting the S3 against the MAXX, and now people are trying to put the S3 against the MAXX HD. There is really no contest unless you prefer Touchwiz at this point.

The S3 has a better camera, everything else goes to Moto MAXX HD IMHO.

Actually blur IMHO sucks worse than two and is far behind sense4. I have no issue at all with the build quality nor the radios on the sgs3. Others have and I can acknowledge that, but I can show you some that have complained about the maxx.

I am not saying one is better than the other so much, I am saying that they are equal depending on what you find important in a phone. Removable battery, bootloader that is unlocked and a phone I can rom is important to me.

I understand the bootloader for rooting/roming but what do u need a removable battery for if u have a battery like the maxx?

They all use the same radios by Qualcomm currently. It just comes down to which phone you like better.

Not quite that simple buddy! It is fact the moto has better radio performance. Period. Arguing that is like arguing the sky isn't blue.

So in your opinion the closest to stock you can get without a nexus phone, is bad? Every review has praised the close to stock experience with thoughtful and well placed modifications. Do you have experience with the phone? Have you owned one? I find it funny the S3 fans are on here defending their phone while having never owned the max to compare it to. I have owned both, so what I say on these forums is for first hand experience, not brand loyalty or purchase defense.

I can't wait to upgrade both are great devices for sure. We can agree there both iPhone killers lmao

Really? I run CM10 or a variant. i am pretty sure that is closest but so what. Blur is still behind TW in terms of added functionality for a skin. No I have never owned a Maxx because flashing ROMs and choosing what I want to do with my phone is a priority to me. I also do not want to have to go the Apple route if my battery dies. I like switching mine out if one dies without sending it away. What I am saying, and have said, is both phones are great phones. You cannot go wrong with either. I do not say this out of brand loyalty (I actually prefer HTC) or purchase defense. I said it because I am trying to be objective to the OP which asked for opinions on the two.

Obviously, I was speaking in reference to stock phones. You desire as close to stock as possible, yet tout TW enhancements. LOL. You are giving your opinion on Blur, but have never used the current iteration. I just retread your posts and I am having trouble finding your objectivity. I am not trying to be a dick, just making sure people know the truth. I extensively tested the two phones and if you want a phone to use as a personal communication device, the best option is the max.

Actually, in my personal experience with both, from a straight communication perspective, the GS3 won. I'm hoping for a better experience with the replacement.

Who cares. They're both awesome phones that blow away iPhone.

Guess you aren't getting it.

Tw is better than blur, if you go with a skin. Aosp, aokp beat them both. I have used a maxx extensively, just never owned one. I can put Aosp on mine, can you? The bootloader is locked on the maxx and that is a definite downside for me.

The two are equal in build and radios in my opinion. I never had issues with either phone on either point. Again, my opinion.

4200 mah is better than 3300 that the maxx has. How do I get 4200? I can change my battery out when I want. Something the maxx cannot do. Don't say it is a pain, it takes ten seconds.

I am not being a dick either. In my opinion and for my uses and for what I find important the sgs3 is the better phone.

Again though, you cannot go wrong with either

Right. But it sucks when you accidentally drop your phone and the back flys off and you have to find and the battery

My 2 cents,
I went from a fascinate to a regular maxx a few months back. I was very excited about the battery especially because the extended battery for the fascinate really killed the aesthetics (who wants a phone with a big butt)
There is no doubt the build quality on the current motorola devices at verizon is great as far as a sturdy feeling product goes. But I'm not so sure about the jnternals. I went through about 8 maxx's and 3 sim cards with the maxx my first one would get burning hot, then signal problems, surprisingly the battery didn't last as long as I thought it would. I was having trouble maintaining 4g in the heart of manhattan with the signal going from 4g to 3g to no data available while the phone was just sitting on my desk at work. Last week Verizon offered to send me a g3 instead, I havent been able to test it at work yet as the area is shot down because of the hurricane, but at home (where I had signal fluctuationwith the maxx as well) so far no signal problems. Now I know it's not the new hd that I'm comparing it to but the screen quality on the age is amazing compared to my maxx. And when I compared the hd and sg3 in verizon store the sg3 screen seems much larger (maybe because of the on screen buttons on the hd). And the phone is more confortable in the hand and in my pocket than the maxx and I can only guess the hd maxx is less confortable. And samsung has a much better dialer with 99 speed dials instead of just 8 for moto.
Another factor for me is the accessories available for the sg3, it's iphone-esque in that respect in it's ubiquitous ness. Samsung was genius in using the same exact phone for every carrier worldwide. The thing that I didn't like about my maxx was the accessoraccessory variety was horrible.

Truth is they're both great handsets and if I could have I would have taken a razr hd (non maxx). But 3 days into my sg3 I'm enjoying it.
The jury is still out on battery life as I havent had a work day with it, but it went all day yesterday and I watched a free youtubes and did a lot of reading and updating on taptu trying to whittle down the battery.

Don't ya just hate first world problems?

But I will take that over sending it back when the battery fails

Charging ports DO fail sometimes!

non removable battery? No phone until you get a day off to get it replaced. Then everything is stuck in the internal memory.
