Maybe Bricked during update

Rooted EVo using Unrevoked

Backed up using Nandroid and Titanium

Downloaded file
renamed to udpate.zip and placed at root of SD
Ran Bootloader and ran install of the update.

Everything went fine, even came up to say....preparing SD. Then the phone rebooted and then.......

STUCK at picture of a phone and RED TRIANGLE with an EXPLAMATION through it....Can not get pass boot loader screen.

Cant even get back into CLOCKWORK MOD Screen...

Am I Bricked?

Try to pull your battery and leave it for a little then boot it up again and see what happens. I do not think you're bricked for good.

I left it off for 10 min. I'll try for a little longer. I get the TRIANGLE when i try and go into Recovery.

That's because the OTA update replaced clockworkmod with the standard EVO Recovery. You need to reload clockworkmod and superuser to get your root back. Don't panic you phone is not bricked at this point.

Also, when at the triangle screen have you tried hitting the volume buttons either up or down? It's been awhile since I've been stuck there but even a stock Evo has a stock recovery and boot loader, so depending upon where the update left off or what went wrong there is still something to get to.

You can do a battery pull and try powering up with your finger on the volume up or down, I think one goes to recovery and one goes to the bootloader.

The other person suggested i reinstall CLOCKMOD.....How do you do that if RECOVERY is giving me the "TRIANGEL OF DEATH" Screen.


FYI...when my phone pwoers on it immediately goes to the "fast boot" screen. I go into bootloader screen and then when i hit "RECOVERY"....ball game.

Alright, I read over on XDA a while ago (around when the evo first came out) that the RUU will start working on the bootloader screen so that is an option you can try.

Let the phone boot in to the bootloader but don't choose recovery and start the RUU on your desktop. This will reset all the data on your phone.

Your other option is to take the SD card out and put it on a card reader, then put a PC36IMG file with a new recovery in the root of the card, the bootloader will find it and give you an option to install after it reads it.

I thought I was stuck too. I followed these steps from the OTA Supersonic thread

Except after step 5 I just ran unrevoked again and i have root again. It didnt erase anything on my phone either.
