Maybe this explains the rebooting/bad battery life?

its the gps not allowing the phone to sleep properly. thats a big thing happening to this driod x. ur phone will run at 100% and not sleep even thoug u think u put it asleep. trust 'me go go the link i posted above. im on 17 hours and my batt is at 80% still with light use.

Mikells,

Are you referring to my unplugged last time? If so i have no idea what ur talking about. I always have gps off by default and when i use an app that needs gps i promptly turn it back off when done,

How does that explain my last unplugged time as saying 14 hours ago when i took it off the charger maybe 5 hours ago? (This inaccuracy only happened when i started using juice defender, which despite this glitch has dramatically improved my battery life)

Actually scratch that, unplugged time was only inaccurate when looking at battery use with app battery indicator pro since i installed juice defender. Droid x itself reports correctly that its been 7 hrs of use since last charged.

Sorry for derailing the thread for a minute

Agree with above poster, since puttig juice defender on battery life on my droid has doubled! I get around 12 hours with pretty moderate- heavy use. Although nowhere near as great as above poster, im jealous

It's actually really easy to set up, download and install then let. AUTO set up for you and enable it. I havey touched a single setting myself, just let it run and do it's thing.

Only gripe i have about it, is that the unplugged time is no longer accurate. For example, i took phone off charger at 1030am and i have 80% remaining, but my phone tells me its been unplugged for 13 hours. Anyone getting this prob with juice defender?

Regarding this juice defender you said you let it auto set up? Do you have to go into the app at all to kill apps after you open them or it will automatically do it for you, Also what if you dont want it to kill something can you exlude and if so how?

Im regards to juice defender, no you don't kill any apps prior to install and it is NOT a task manager/killer. It simply optimizes your settings automatically to save battery. You will have to turn wifi off tho

Android 2.2 (Froyo) will be such big change that the applications that kill running tasks will have to be updated to be compatible with 2.2.

Many people keep saying task killers have to be updated, but its really just the way the OS now works on 2.2. Froyo has been out a long time on the nexus and a lot of apps were updated, including all the task killers. If there was a way to change, they would have already done it. I think we're just stuck with it.

im not using any juice defender, or task killer, i just made it 24 hours and had 60% of my battery life left when i put it on the charger.

whats happening(and i know u say u turn the gps off and thats fine) is evne though u turn it off, it effects the phone so that it cannot sleep correctly. downloand spair parts app and it tells u this. read the link i posted. trust me its a real glitch. i dont need any task killer or juice defender. i just read whats going on thru that spair parts app that tells me if my phone is running 100% of the time(means the bug is in effect) or in my case now 44% of the time. meaning that i put my phone asleep it sleeps, with the glitch even if u turn the gps off, opening the gps or using it causes that bug to come into effect, so that the phone stays running at 100% even though u push sleep it will act like it is sleeping but it will run at 100% . thats whats killing the batt. read that link to android forums that i posted. its vailid and i got 24 hours and stil had 60% left of my batt. trust me

So how would you fix this glitch? Im curious abt this now, so even if i turn off gps and put my phone to sleep its still running like im actively using it?

anyone heard of this

Battery Drain due to Software Bug w/GPS? - Android Forums

i think its valid? i reciprocated the issue there talking about . im testing batt life now with it sleeping properly.

Guys, PLEASE go look at this, and then look at discussions on the moto support forums of the same titles. It's a real issue, and may be the cause of most of the battery headaches we're seeing. Really...it's late and I'm bleeding from my eyes from having read all of this, but it looks legit and totally confirmed. And start putting GPS toggle widgets on your homepage till an update comes out.

told you so!!! its real!!!!! i bet i can get 2 days out of my batt by doing what he says in the link to do, and making sure my device isn't running at 100%

i just dont know how to get this blown up into making it a big deal cause its even hard to get people to beleive you on here its an issue. anyone have any ideas how to get it to the big wigs to get it taken care of?
