I was recently trying to restore a backup with clockworkmod recovery and I get md5 mismatch error, is there a way to fix or am I boned on this backup? Any help is appreciated

If you look in the folder where the backup is stored there is a file name md5sum, this file can be edited. Only edit it after you have checked the md5sum of the backup files, and only edit with Notepat++ if your using Windows.

Get utility to check md5sum here..

Get Notepad++ here.

In Notepad change the encoding to Unix.

Ok yes the nandroid backup was renamed (with doggie file explorer) and I feel Its my fault, I'm currently working with my phone only, is there a way I can find out what it was named b4 and change it back? This nandroid is my factory backup :(

Easiest fix for me was to make a blank text document and rename to nandroid.md5 (0 byte)
This way CWM bypasses md5 check and restore your backups immediately

I had the same problem, but after a few seconds I ve found the solution.

Check files in cwm folder on your SD card. there should be nandroid.md5 and .androidsecure.img (or .android_secure.img I dont remember)

my problem was that these files were hidden. If they are not present on your SD, then make hidden files visible and copy these files again from your PC.

can you re-write that as if the file names was say androidcentral....im using terminal emulator....thanks

- If restoring a backed up ROM in CWM recovery gives 'MD5 mismatch' error (likely caused by renaming a ROM backup). Try this fix:
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/<name_of_backup>
# rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum *img > nandroid.md5

can you re-write that as if the file names was say androidcentral....im using terminal emulator....thanks
