I'm trying to restore a 2-day old image on my phone. The backup image is simply named "virtuous", but whenever I try to restore it, it simply says "MD5 mismatch". Any idea what's going on here?

Now I'm not a Android know it all or anything but this is from what I've gathered from my experiences with android and linux:

when you make a backup it generates a "string" (for lack of a better word) that's called a MD5 cheksum which is basically a way of ensuring data integrity. When you restore it checks for this "string" and if matches what's saved the restore proceeds.

Somehow your backup got corrupted, the MD5 checksum does not match and that's where the error is...

That might explain it. My titanium restore was still from this old image, so I managed to restore everything by re-flashing virtuous and doing a batch restore. However, I would like to know how to avoid this problem in the future, since I plan on trying a few different ROMs and would really like to default back to the setup I have currently.

That I do not know, do you plug it into your computer in usb mode and then just pull it out when done without safely removing hardware?? That might do it

Or maybe did you rename it after you made the backup?? Again not sure if that would do it, just tossing out ideas
